House selling

Put the house on the market recently - Was very lucky had 2 viewings and went straight under offer before being advertised. Made the mistake of telling the next-door neighbour and guess what they are now putting there's up for sale - fuming! We have found a house we really like had the offer accepted on it now I'm worried ours could fall through because of them putting theirs on the market - the minute we told them we were selling they were literally on to our estate agent the next day to list theirs!

Why the panic? I don't see how it will affect your sale unless you are worried your buyers will prefer their house? They may not even find out unless they gone back to look at yours again and see a sign.

Bit weird that they'd do that. Presumably it's something they'd been considering for a while?

What are you worried about? Is their house better somehow or will they accept a much lower offer?

I doubt putting their house on the market would be purely a knee-jerk reaction to you telling them about yours. Are your houses similar? Similar prices?

house is identical although ours has more land both in good condition - small town our buyers will definately know when theirs go on the market expect it will do on for same price.

But I still don't understand why you're fuming?

You’re worried your purchaser will view theirs, put an offer in and say goodbye to you I think?

That’s the joy of the British system I’m afraid. It’s crap.

At the moment you’re worrying about something that hasn’t happened. Worry about it if and when it does. But not before - that’s a waste of energy!
