Help! Have I just poisoned myself?

Just bought a pack of peperami whilst shopping and opened one on the way home in the car. Didn't look at it before taking a bite but thought it tasted a bit yuk and didn't eat any more. When I got home and looked it wasn't the usual colour either (kind of pale and not red). Showed DH and he threw it in the bin and refused to try it to test out if it's ok or not - my thinking is if he's ok, it must be ok, but if I'm the only one who ate it I'll think myself into feeling sick :( So now I'm panicking and waiting to start feeling ill - does anyone know how dangerous a manky peperami is?

ScottishStottie - No I did that too. In fact I still do!

TheReluctantCountess · 23/02/2020 17:18

Yeah that looks a dodgy colour.

Bluetrews25 · 23/02/2020 17:27

I was going to say send it back, but seeing as we are now in 21st century, tweet them, and you might get vouchers or something.
Sure you'll be fine, remember you have hydrochloric acid in your stomach to kill any randoms. One bite should be ok.

Still feeling ok so far - a bit queasy but I think it's in my head. I don't do Twitter but just messaged the company on FB with the manky peperami photo.

I think your stomach would have told you it wasn't happy by now so hopefully a quiet night and no drama. But it did look iffy.

Well I seemed to survive the manky peperami, but in other news - I found a spider in my sandwich today 🤮🤮🤮. I'm hoping this scary food theme isn't coming in threes....

I think you might need to employ an Offical Taster.

You had a lucky escape then as my DC found a rogue piece in their lunchbox a day or two after having their first sitting, ate it and ended up having severe food poisoning! Was also during summer so that might have worsened the deterioration!!

NemophilistRebel · 24/02/2020 20:21

The colour does look dodgy

Didn’t it smell terrible once it was open?

Badtasteflump · 24/02/2020 20:24

No it didn’t smell too bad, it just tasted a bit like cheap nasty sausage without the spicy peperoni flavour. Feeling queasy again just thinking about it 😱

You'll have to tell us what your third accidental self-poisoning is when it happens, OP.

Are you ok today @Badtasteflump
