Exercise is ruining my poor boobs

I am (or rather was) a 32e. Quite happy with my boobs. In the past few months I've started running, not to lose weight but to get fit, having spent the last however many years not doing any exercise at all.

The side effect of my running, is that I am actually losing a bit of weight. Fine if I'm losing it from my tummy or thighs. But it's all coming off my boobs!!!!

What can I do? They look hideous. Just been into debenhams to be measured for a bra and even the lovely woman in there admitted in going to struggle finding anything that fits. They just look saggy and horrible. I've always been quite happy with my boobs but now I want to cry when I look at them!!

What can I do? Is this just a horrible side effect of getting fit? In all honesty I'm considering giving it up as I'd rather have nice boobs again Blush

I have just started running but maybe you will lose weight all over in time so everything will balance out? No advice really but hope someone is on shortly to reassure.

HundredMilesAnHour · 23/02/2020 15:41

It's a side effect of exercising I'm afraid. The weight loss will move down your body so things will even out. But boobs are fat so it's inevitable that they will reduce if you're exercising and experiencing fat loss. That's why the few fit women you see who still have largeish boobs tend to have implants.

Sorry OP.

But get into the habit of doing regular press-ups. They're great for firming up your chest and preventing too much sagging.

Are you doing any strength work and are you wearing a good sports bra?

oldestchild90s · 23/02/2020 15:57

I was a 32G and went down to a D by losing a few stone, mine were exactly the same as yours.. ever since i got pregnant (currently 15 weeks) i've gone back up and i'm currently an F. When i lose weight it always comes off my boobs first but nothing you can really do for it 😭 all you can do is be proud of what you have!

Wildthyme · 23/02/2020 16:06

Remember the old "I must, I must improve my bust"? That's what you need to do. Develop those muscles and your boobs will look better in time.

FleabagTeabag · 23/02/2020 18:25

ifyoulikepinacolada no I'm not doing any strength work. Literally just running.

Also I'm wearing a good sports bra. Although now it's not quite as good fitting as there's less boob!!

Sounds like this is normal. But soooooo annoying. Did not realise that this would happen.

That’s odd, as running causes me to loose weight from the waist down, which is logical, I’ve never heard of any one only loosing weight from their boobs from running. Are you sure that’s the case?

Palavah · 23/02/2020 18:33

I found running was the most effective for losing weight from my boobs especially.

Can you mix it up with some other activities including strength work, press-ups. That will help your tone and shape all over. But yes, to some extent it's invetitable (!)

Oh - and a word of warning, if you put on and loose weight again and again you will find you lose more weight off your boobs than everywhere else.

Don't be tempted to throw the baby out with the bathwater altogether.

LilyJade · 23/02/2020 18:33

You need to get some free weights (dumbbells) I've got 3kg weights for home although I can go a bit heavier in the gym & do exercises for the chest area which you can google / find on YouTube I expect.

seasonalsparkler · 23/02/2020 18:36

I'm sending love and acceptance your way 😊

seasonalsparkler · 23/02/2020 18:37

I forgot to add that I can totally relate. Still I am sending love and acceptance your way.

Really? I wonder if it’s because I also do weights and other gym exercises. My boobs are the last place I loose weight, im Just slightly bigger than the op, and they pretty much stay that size. Irrelevant of my weight. Just going up or down slightly. I’m a dress size ten.

Maybe it’s the weights that do it then. 🤷‍♀️

TheDogsMother · 23/02/2020 18:44

Push ups have worked wonders on mine. It was an unexpected side effect of the HIIT workouts.

MegBusset · 23/02/2020 18:47

When I lose weight it goes off my boobs first. If I put it back on it goes on my hips, arse and thighs. Basically all my body fat is gradually migrating southwards Grin and I'm changing from the hourglass of my teens and 20s to a definite pear shape!

No solutions but lots of sympathy!

FleabagTeabag · 23/02/2020 18:48

FFS. I'm doing running because I HATE all other types of exercise. I can't do push ups or press ups. Looks like I might have to research chest exercises.

Try body pump :)

lifeisgoodmostofthetime · 23/02/2020 18:55

I've lost a lot of weight through diet and exercise and unfortunately lost it from my breasts as well. They aren't as full and perk as they use to be. Quite saggy tbh. Part of the process of loosing weight I think. You can't pick and choose the area

Beautiful3 · 23/02/2020 19:22

How werid, my boobs are the last place I lose weight, I'm so jealous! I'm dying to reduce their size.

oldestchild90s · 23/02/2020 19:36

It's definitely not the weights, from my point of view anyway. Did chest atleast once maybe twice a week and they still went the way they did 😂 you are a lucky one bluntness!

Bluntness100 · 23/02/2020 19:46

Hmm, I’m not sure actually I’d prefer them to shrink a bit to be honest.

I guess we are never happy!

lljkk · 23/02/2020 19:50

Boobs are just fat stores.

seasonalsparkler · 23/02/2020 20:36

As a child, I was a late developer. When I eventually got measured I was an 32E- much to my joy and dismay.
So I learnt to embrace it along with the rest of the world i.e. page 3 in The Sun. In my adulthood I was told by an "intelligent" lady that my bust size was a result of my poor westernised diet which is contrary to what my eyes see- both au natural and cosmetically enhanced.
So in my early twenties I did beginner powerlifting and saw a dramatic reduction in my breast cup size, but unknowingly to me- at the time- I was still heavy set just somewhat droopy.
Now approaching my mid thirties, I am the smallest I've ever been for my height and my chest size is 28F/30E and saggy at best without a bra with a beautiful daughter in tow. Honestly OP embrace it and just be healthy. Without going cliche overboad, we don't know what is around the corner.
