2 part question about cancelling sky tv

Have had sky tv for a while but they’ve just put the price up again and being on maternity leave can’t really afford it

I want to cancel and just use freeview and Netflix but I don’t have an aerial

I also need to find a recording box that has a WiFi/Bluetooth remote as we keep the box in a cupboard (sky q works fab for this)

Does anyone know if such a product exists?

Am I going to end up regretting getting rid of sky?

The sky box continues to work to let you view the free to air channels. It doesn't record though.
We found once we actually cancelled and had no sky for a couple of days , they rang us up and offered a better deal.

With sky q they say we don’t own the box in the t’s and c’s and would have to return it.

I guess if it can’t record it’s not much use to us anyway

With sky q you dont own the box, they will collect it.
Also they change the dish to be different for q, which means sky + boxes won't work

We have prime (7.99) Netflix (8.99) apps like bbc etc (free) and Now (1.80 to 8.99) and it takes some getting used to but time dont really sky now.

The worst thing is how many buttons you have to press to watch bbc news,
Turn tv on
Choose bbc
Log in (for some reason)
Move to right to channels
Enter
Down to select the channels
Scroll to channel you want
Enter
Down to "watch from start or live"
Enter
Down to select live
Enter

Did you lose stuff you had already recorded Zebras?

Zebrasinpyjamas · 26/02/2020 22:39

@ExpletiveDelighted yes it's still on the box but you can't watch it. If you reinstate your subscription, it's available again.

I have sky + on q so we still kept our box. Sounds like sky q is different.

Thanks, we have Sky q too. Since I posted DH has managed to haggle the cost down.
