To burst into tears because my jigsaw has a piece missing

Probaby...

I'm dyspraxic and have always found jigsaws really difficult - even easy peasy ones when I was a kid. I even struggled with those ones where you have to put the right shape in the right hole

However I wanted to defeat a jigsaw so I've been building upwards over a couple of years really simple children's ones. At first even the 6 piece ones were difficult but I've tried to practise regularly Over the last few days I've challenged myself with a 200 piece one. Its the biggest one I've ever tried and I nearly gave up several times

and then there was one bit missing at the end and I can't find it anywhere... brand new jigsaw out of the box today... so it must be somewhere

I actually burst into tears :(

Oh, that would drive me mad! I’d probably cry in frustration too.

Is the box lid folded down inside? Could the piece have slid up under that fold?

GummyGoddess · 22/02/2020 20:46

You can usually call the company for a missing piece, check the box and see if they offer that and what code from the box they need?

BernadetteRostankowskiWolowitz · 22/02/2020 20:47

Noooo!!

Can you post a pic of the box? Someone may have one they can send you, if they weren't planning on using it anymore?

Overall though, OP, massive congratulations on managing 199 jigsaw pieces correctly.

What determination! Well done. Keep it- don't pack it away in frustration!

And you know what, you've done it! Whether that piece is there or not, you've done that jigsaw!

Very frustrating. Bt don,t give up. You completed a jigsaw which is something new to you don,t let it takeaway your achievement.

DramaAlpaca · 22/02/2020 20:53

Oh I feel your pain. We usually have a jigsaw on the go and the one we were doing over Christmas turned out to have a piece missing. It was very annoying after all that work.

FuckingHateRats · 22/02/2020 20:55

Sympathise completely. I'd be gutted. Well done on what you've achieved though!

helpfulperson · 22/02/2020 20:56

Tears are a perfectly sensible reaction to this. But a 199 piece jigsaw is an achievement nonetheless..

This is one of those situations where it isn't the end of the world and tomorrow you will pick yourself up and move on but tonight wallowing in annoyance is totally understandable.
