Nintendo - so fucking complicated

I can't express how much I detest Nintendo Switch; it's in a par with iTunes.

So fucking complicated and intricate with bloody user accounts and Nintendo ID

Ds has finally bought a switch. However he can't transfer his user data (his avatar) to this switch. God knows why. This is meant to be for children so because my account that I had to create or lose £10 I'd paid for online is linked and I had to create child accounts both are linked now so the data can't move.

Or something. I just hate the fucking things.

You what?

SouthWestmom · 22/02/2020 14:46

Setting up accounts and not being able to move them because they are linked to my account which I don't want because I don't play bloody games

I just want something like the old wii where you just did plug and play not where data accumulated to a child account linked to a parent account but you can't move the child account away or some crap

I have no advice but I agree. It is SO COMPLICATED unnecessarily and not kid friendly (or adult friendly for that matter) at all. DS had a subscription to something on there and I had to literally google step by step instructions on how to cancel it because they make it so so hard.

I feel your pain!

Thank you!

Honestly I have done the live chat and they were so rude - just you signed the T and C (millions of tiny words) so you knew the parent wallet couldn't fund the child wallet etc etc.

The child can't transfer his 'user' to the new Nintendo (he created it on his brothers) because he is a child on my account which both have to have linked for some reason. Oh because they are under 15. So can't transfer but also can't access. What a load of complicated crap.

Not advice just empathy. Dh is an IT geek and he couldn’t sort ours out either

slipperywhensparticus · 23/02/2020 11:29

My son sorts ours he is 11

missyB1 · 23/02/2020 11:32

Hmmmm I don’t think we have this issue but ds has a switch lite so it’s possibly different. I’m a total technophobe so I leave all that stuff to dh.

Valkadin · 23/02/2020 11:41

Go on YouTube and look for a video, live chat is probably the worst idea to sort out IT issues or indeed any kind of issue. Misconstrued messaging is one of modern life’s great evils. The Wii was easy because it didn’t have any kind of online features. The accounts will have to be linked so you have some sort of parental control. I do not have a switch so cannot advise but have all other platforms.

We had this nightmare with the Xbox.

Ds then had an epid tantrum, threw a chair at the TV, smashed it and the Xbox was never seen again after that.

We now have a Nintendo switch which we love but we didn't have to do all the complicated stuff you're doing (that's a similar issue we had with the Xbox).

You're right, they are not user friendly to set up or link up.

Once it's done it's done but they don't make it easy and in some circumstances totally impossible.

I remember having a SNES. You just plugged it in, and blew into the cartridge occasionally and everyone's a winner.

SouthWestmom · 23/02/2020 12:03

That's what I want. Just plug and play.
We have all the platforms now due to the number of boys in the family and the Swicth is the most infuriating- at least with XBox I know I can't move his avatar away from my account so he either has access to all my stuff or loses his.

The switch says you can port a user to a new switch. But because he has a child account under the parent account and you can't set up the sodding switch without using an account he used this - logic, yes?

But no! You can't transfer a user to a switch linked to the same account. AngryAngryAngry
