OK so the sashh cafe is open, today's breakfast is crumpets, the usual tea and coffee and I might stretch to bacon butties later.

Up and making tea, wishing I had crumpets in. Too much wine last night and being in the middle of clearing my mums house resulted in bad dreams.

Taddda · 22/02/2020 04:25

@Lima45 Hope your Dad's okay Flowers and you manage to get some sleep-

Lima45 · 22/02/2020 04:26

Thank you @Taddda. He seems to be a bit more stable now. Just getting him settled in.

HeronLanyon · 22/02/2020 04:27

Well google didn’t help. But I have come across new word - first time in ages - décorticated - removal of outer husks etc.
If I can have another coffee please. I need to work out how to slip this into convo today.
Getting busy in here.
Support all.

sashh · 22/02/2020 04:29

Another round of tea and coffee, I've put some hot chocolate out for those hoping to get some sleep.

OP posts:
Taddda · 22/02/2020 04:32

@HeronLanyon 'Corn on the corn for dinner, once they've been decorticated'...

Taddda · 22/02/2020 04:33

*cob

incognitomum · 22/02/2020 04:35

Bloody weather!!

I'm at work doing a sleepover. An here until late afternoon. Looks like I'll be napping when I get home before going out tonight?

I'd probably be asleep at home but the windows are so crap here you'd think one was open Sad

Hope everyone else manages some shut eye.

incognitomum · 22/02/2020 04:37

@Lima45 hope your dad will be ok Flowers

HeronLanyon · 22/02/2020 04:38

Yes tadda excellent idea. Now balancing desire to use word (which is strong) with unexpected need to shop for corn on the cob totally out of season in day I am travelling out of London to very small Kent village.
I suppose I could randomly talk about recipe I think looks good ‘when I can get some corn on the cob’.
Yes - phew ! Ta!
Slurp - great coffee here.

Lima45 · 22/02/2020 04:41

Thank you @incognitomum still waiting to hear how he's doing. Not allowed in the hdu so sitting drinking machine coffee in the waiting area until they come and get me.

popgoesperfection · 22/02/2020 04:48

Been woke up by ds2 wanting dummy replaced (100 times). Nodding back off ds1 coughing, almost 2 hour ago 🥱 who even needs sleep .....

Taddda · 22/02/2020 05:28

@HeronLanyon or a more zen approach of 'I'm going through a process of decorticating negativity.....'
My nan used to write down 'new words' she'd find whilst reading and use them often after finding....everything was 'Macabre' for a week once Grin

YouCanNeverHaveEnoughGIitter · 22/02/2020 05:37

Cuppa Brew and Cake please. Never too early for cake. Cannot believe I have woken up at 5.30am when I only went down 4 hours ago. I am so screwed. Became nocturnal over half term but need to get body clock back in sync by Monday.
Awoke from a dream where I was dying, which is not good although I was old. I wanted to see my sister but my partner couldn't get hold of her or she refused to come. We are estranged atm so that, and Billie Eilish's Everything I wanted, are probably the bloody route cause but I hate anxiety dreams above all else.
How are you all?

HeronLanyon · 22/02/2020 05:38

I’ve not come across a new word (other than scientific/medical etc) for quite a few years I think. It’s rather exciting. I feel as though though I have been decorticated !!
Good suggestions. It shall be used today (Poor dp).

cheesefries · 22/02/2020 05:40

Bacon sandwich please!

Been awake since half 4 as baby has gone from waking every 90 minutes all night every night to 10.5 hours and counting! Feels like I've slept an eternity. Rock hard milk boobs woke me up but I will deal with the discomfort as there is NO way I am waking a beautifully sleeping babe!

YouCanNeverHaveEnoughGIitter · 22/02/2020 05:44

Patina is a thin layer that variously forms on the surface of copper, brass, bronze and similar metals, or certain stones, and wooden furniture, or any similar acquired change of a surface through age and exposure

Patina was my word this week.

I have a word every week. I used to do free rice a lot and did that bbc iq test a dozen times where the definitions was the only positive result but I still find a word each week I don't know. Then there's words like loquacious and unctuous etc that I often still need to look up every sodding time (those aren't the examples but ykwim).

TreeTopTim · 22/02/2020 05:51

I'm awake. Just finished feeding baby. If I had known that you were open I would have arrived sooner for coffee and cake. Too early for a bacon roll but never too early for cake.

@cheesefries I have found myself on the odd occasion pumping at this time due to baby sleeping and rock hard milk boobs. More so that I don't leak everywhere rather than the discomfort.

sashh · 22/02/2020 05:57

For new words, try reading on a kindle, if you tap on the word it opens the dictionary.

And you used to be able to get a 'word of the day' sent from dictionary.com

OK I'm cutting up the cake, I have black forest gateau, brought by tele-time-portal from 1979.

I’m up too, I’ve got a horrible cough and I’ve given up on sleep for the time being. DH decamped to the sofa in the middle of the night to try and get some sleep, hopefully he will have done so, or he’s going to be a bear with a sore head today Sad

UnexpectedItemInTheShaggingAre · 22/02/2020 06:03

Black Forest gateau. Haven’t had one of them since I was about eight

YouCanNeverHaveEnoughGIitter · 22/02/2020 06:04

Schwarzwälderkirschtorte mit Schlagsahne bitte Wink

Spudlet · 22/02/2020 06:11

Black Forest Gateau sounds like it would be very soothing for a sore throat, make mine a nice big bit please. It’s medicinal Grin

Taddda · 22/02/2020 07:03

I got 3 hours, that's 5 hours sleep since Thursday....sugar me up with some cake 'o' forest de noir please....

I swear my Dd's are in proper 'you sleep/I sleep' cahoots...this has been months now....😢.....if one more person tells me to 'sleep when they sleep' I'd like them to tell me which month/year I should be expecting that.....they're on different time zones!

Anyway, coffee!...(smiley face, breakfasts Brew....)!

Taddda · 22/02/2020 07:29

'Languorous' is my word of the day...!
