Never stop decorating. Something is always being decorated, or it feels like it.
I suppose it depends what you mean by decorating. Just putting a fresh coat of paint on, or taking everything out, wallpaper stripping, plastering, new furniture, new flooring, new features like new fireplaces or built in storage, wardrobes, shelving etc?
Moved in to current place six years ago. Kitchen and bathroom have both been taken out, and entirely redone, back to plaster in the kitchen and back to bare brick in the bathroom, they have each had new floors and tiles. Both have had had a coat of fresh paint since then. Utility has been taken back to brick and redone, and that’s been painted again too. The hallway has had two makeovers, the first one was temporary as we didn’t have much cash, it’s been done again since. Living room got a fresh coat of paint when we moved in but only as a temporary fix, then later we did it properly with new built in furniture and new log burner, so that’s been decorated four times technically since we moved in, although the last one was only a touch up. Dining room has been done twice, conservatory got new floor and paint. Kids rooms get done every few years so each of theirs has been done twice here so far. One was replastered on the second go around. We have done the spare room once.
I’m thinking we have been “decorating” something or other on at least twenty occasions since we moved in six years ago. Can’t see us stopping as it’s like painting the forth bridge.
