I've just cooked out of date dry pasta!

I thought it took longer to cook than expected but it did taste fine, then when putting the remainder back in the cupboard I noticed the best before/use-by date! SIX YEARS AGO!!!

So what would you do? Dump the rest of it or use it? I hate food waste but we're talking 75p here maximum, we're still alive and it did taste good.

I would have no problem eating it. But then I'm not fussy when it comes to things being out of date, unless they are clearly rancid.

I can report we're both still alive and well today, I showed DH the date and he shrugged his shoulders and said it's only pasta! I did shuffle it about for a while thinking I must cook it soon then we started to eat wholemeal and it got forgotten :)

My DM hates throwing stuff out, she often gives it to me first. She gave me a box of dry goods recently; I noticed that the date on the baking powder was best before 2000. That was a bit much for even me!

I was house sitting for my mum and decided to make myself some pasta. I didn't check the date and only once it was cooked did I notice that it was full of weevils. Envy To be fair, I don't think it was a sealed packet.

And there were, in the same box, some chocolate sugar strands for cake decorating. It's the Tesco font before the one they use now; the current one has been in use since 1996....

No I wouldn't eat it.
How has pasta stayed in your cupboard for 6 years without you realising OP 🤣
