Firstly let me say I recognise that my dilemma comes from a very advantageous place - I completely understand that.
We would love to move house next year - we have 2 DCs and have outgrown our two up two down house. (Been here for 12 years)
DCs are very settled in a school and DS should go to the outstanding secondary in 2021.
It’s a really expensive town to live in. A four bed detached (which is pretty much what we would love) is around 1.3 million. We can’t afford that (we could go to 900k but that would be a massive mortgage.
I feel trapped living in this expensive town. I’m lucky, senior nurse in the NHS so my salary is not location dependent. DH currently works 25 miles away - we currently earn the same but I’m the more likely one to earn the most over the next 3-4 years.
The DCs say they would be devastated to leave their schools (which I do understand).
Has anyone felt like this? I keep looking at houses out of our town and we could get our dream home and nowhere near the size of the mortgage needed here.
I would love to hear from others who’ve experienced something similar
