Ford Focus Ecoboost

Has anyone gone from a 1.6 Ford Focus to an Ecoboost 1.0? How is it? Currently have a 1.6 but it's getting old and need a new car. I do a lot of motorway driving so need it to be able to "go". Any experience?

I've not driven the 1.6 focus but I do have a ford focus 1.0 EcoBoost and I think it's fantastic. It's very good on fuel and my commute is 2 hours each day on lots of national speed limit roads and dual carriageways.

Although it might not pull away particularly quickly, I find it isn't too bad, and once going at speed it's very nippy. I'm very comfortable driving it on the motorway. Can you test drive one first to see what you think of it, in comparison to the 1.6?

I did have a 1.6 before but it was a very clunky old car from 2001 so I couldn't make a comparison really.

How old is your 1.6 compared to how old the 1.0 will be ?

My friend got one of the new Fiesta 1.0 and I was surprised how nippy it was (and I have an ST)

I woulf think it's the same with the Focus

be very careful - the 1.0 is known as the 'Ecoboom' !! The problem is allegedly fixed but check and doublecheck. There's a facebook page 'Ford ecoboost nightmare' which should have the details. Massive design blunder meaning engines caught fire.

I went from the 1.6 to the 1.0 and find very little difference. In fact I often forget it's not a 1.6.

Yes I'm aware of the issues with the Ecoboost so I need to read up a bit more to check which date period it was
