I am thinking sliding doors, are Sharps worth the price?
Any other recommendations?

Hammonds are very good.

Purpletigers · 18/02/2020 20:49

Try an independent company? if they exist ?

izzyb6488 · 18/02/2020 20:51

Try Northgate Bedrooms, they fitted lovely wardrobes with sliding doors for us in our master bedroom and at a reasonable price

I would avoid Sharps at all costs. My experience with them was awful.

OnlyToWin · 18/02/2020 20:58

I had a great experience with Sharps. There was a minor flaw with the drawers and it was replaced no prob and promptly. Cost a fortune though!!

mummymayhem18 · 18/02/2020 21:08

Hammonds are good. They have done 2 bedrooms in my house 👍😊

StripeyDeckchair · 18/02/2020 21:15

Find a local carpenter.
Explain what you want how it will look inside & out.
He will give you a price.
He'll probably do a better job at a better price than any of the big names.

It's what we did and I still love the results.

dayswithaY · 18/02/2020 21:47

I would also avoid Sharps as they fell to bits quickly, literally doors hanging off, awful. And they left piles of rubbish behind.

OnlyToWin · 18/02/2020 21:57

Am really shocked at all these Sharps bad experiences! That’s awful. Hope you all got your money back/got them sorted.

minniemoll · 18/02/2020 21:57

Ikea Pax are brilliant, and so adaptable, with loads of options for shelves, drawers etc, and you can change them round to suit changing needs very easily. They'll fit them for you or you can get a local handyperson. I had the carcasses fitted then did all the internals myself, it's very straightforward.

MinesaPinot · 18/02/2020 22:07

We're using a local company. Really nice, comparable prices and we are very pleased with the ones they have done previously.

SpangledPandemonium · 18/02/2020 22:11

I could fill a thread with my Sharps experience! Customer services in particular were dreadful. I'm unhappy with the outcome. I know others however who were very happy. I think they just don't handle it well when things go wrong.

V1ckyCh1ck · 18/02/2020 22:31

We used Sliderobes, they were brilliant!

missanony · 18/02/2020 22:34

Where are you based? Fitrite in leamington are good and a fraction of the price and carpenters are cheaper again

YogaLite · 18/02/2020 22:35

Unfortunately can't do IKEA as it will leave a gap at the top, their doors are lower than the ceiling so it won't be the fitted look I am after.
Forgot about Hammonds, will go to their showroom next.

Sliderobes and Leamington are too far.
I think we had Sliderobes in the old house (Kent), now in Middx.

We used John Lewis.

Great service, not as expensive as we had thought it would be, professional fitting and lovely finish.

YogaLite · 18/02/2020 22:49

Ah, John Lewis's would also leave a gap at the top :-(

Avoid sharps... we had our understairs fitted out last week, a two day build has turned into 7 days so far and we are still missing a door. Said door should have been fitted tomorrow, and today have been told it isn't now happening and no future date confirmed... I would not recommended them at all

SouthWestmom · 18/02/2020 23:03

We tried local and they cost the same as Sharps/Hammonds if not more. Had wardrobes and shoe cupboards fitted along one wall (£6k) several years ago and the hinges are useless and the wrap peeling - independent.

We are using Hammonds this time - really good choice of design, easy to add or change things etc.

ineedaholidaynow · 19/02/2020 00:34

Can I ask how much it is going to cost Noeuf?

SouthWestmom · 19/02/2020 00:49

I think just over £5k for the equivalent of 2.5 double wardrobes, shelves and a cheat pls a tall unit

strawbmilk · 19/02/2020 01:04

my fitted bedroom.com did ours just before Christmas. Once we signed work was completed within 2.5 weeks as they knew we had a baby due. The fitters worked until 11pm one night to ensure it was finished on the Friday night so we could move back in over the weekend. The wardrobes are floor to ceiling & made on site to fit the doors.

Tartyflette · 19/02/2020 01:32

We've used Hammonds twice now and can really recommend them -- although it helps if you have a reasonable idea of what you want as their designs can be a bit formulaic.
But i knew pretty much just how i wanted the bedrooms to be and they did them to my spec, (made a few sensible suggestions to work round problems). I am really happy with the result.
The quotes came a little cheaper than Sharps.
The workmen are really good, quick, clean and efficient.

PS I have the Hammonds shoe cascade love it!
(But could really do with two Blush....)
