Hi

I'm a bit confused and wanted someone else's opinion on it all

Friday just gone I went to a private Dr to get a prescription for Phentermine to hell me lose weight. I was weighed at the appointment and I was 13 and a half stone.

I didn't take them until the Saturday morning and have eaten much smaller portions since and only had 2 meals a day but have drank tonnnnnnssss of water and green tea.

I went to Tesco last night and bought some scales and weighed myself and it's coming up with my weight being just over 12 and a half stone??

Am I right in thinking maybe the scales aren't right? For what it's worth I'm about 5.6 woman and aged 25?

Or is it actually possible to lose that much weight so quickly?!!!

I'm baffled

Good point @MiniCooperLover! Why are the prescribing you pills @FlyingWithTheDevil?

Hippywannabe · 18/02/2020 21:06

I thought that drug was banned due to it causing heart attacks?

I lost a stone in 3 days once. I was breastfeeding and had my wisdom teeth out under General Anaesthetic. Do I couldn't eat before the op, and couldn't after, but was still pumping. I felt awful. The baby was 4 months old and I went from 9 stone to 8 stone.

Veterinari · 18/02/2020 21:18

Phentermine is an amphetamine (same type of drug as Speed)
It can cause heart palpitations and sudden death.

Probably not worth the risk to shift a stone Hmm

LeekMunchingSheepShagger · 18/02/2020 21:47

No way did you get that drug on prescription in the UK. Have you got a death wish??

TheChosenTwo · 18/02/2020 22:50

I was going to ask if it was an amphetamine!
A lecturer of mine at college once was telling an anecdote about her doctor once putting her on a weight loss pill that caused her to not sleep and be mopping kitchen floors at 3am. She said she couldn’t understand it. We all smirked to each other Grin
Anyway, I’m also confused why your doctor would prescribe something for your weight loss when you’re at a weight that they should be encouraging you to lose it naturally - of course we know nothing about your medical history and it’s none of our business but it just struck me as strange.
Anyway, our scales need stepping on 3 times repeatedly to calibrate themselves (or something like that) - the first and third readings are usually about 6lbs different.

GiveHerHellFromUs · 19/02/2020 03:54

I also thought it was a weird prescription. MIL is the same weight but much shorter than OP and they've refused her multiple times

SpeckledFrogsLog · 19/02/2020 07:58

OP says she went to a “private doctor” Hmm

It was a proper national health GP service in east London. And they have an office on the side that they rent to this "DR" that does Botox and all sorts. I only went in for the pills because a friend of a friend recommended them and offered to let me join her appointment and she told me how great they were and I was really excited.

I've got mobility issues and struggle to get around let alone exercise. I don't eat much at all but it's obviously what i eat.

I was rushed in and out I was weighed had my blood pressure done and was handed a prescription and charged £40 for 2 weeks and handed a bunch of leaflets on my way out that I shoved in my bag.

I feel so fucking stupid for not even reading up on them or anything. I'm now on the toilet with the worst stomach cramps I've ever had I. I have already took my tablet this morning before even opening the thread

I've not been sleeping at all since being on them but felt soooooo thirsty so I've been drinking gallons of water and green tea.

I could have easily not eaten at all only I had to feed DD and I've been having a toddler size plate of lunch and the same thing for dinner but have had to force it down.

I hopped on the scales after getting off the toilet and
It says I'm down to
12stone which has to be wrong. I'm throwing the tablets and hiding the scales

I feel so naive and stupid for not even reading up on them

I'm looking for the little booklet thing now to see what it says. I'm in the middle of having my home decorated so everything is everywhere at the moment

Don’t feel silly, it’s easy to not think something will be dangerous when prescribed by a real doctor. It’s shocking though and I’m glad you posted so you now know the dangers
