Police cadets - experiences?

Hello. My DD (13) is considering doing this (which is a bit of a surprise to me. She has never shown interest in policing before, and no police in the family). Any experiences of DC joining this? I'm a bit worried about potential dangers, or it leading to cadet kids being picked on by others at school(?). DD is at an inner city comp and the police are not always popular in the area!!
Any experiences anyone can share?

My DS started this week so I don't have much to go on. But he LOVED starting with drills on his first session. They also took measurements for uniform.
The other kids seemed nice and fairly sensible.
I've just had an email from the leader letting us know they can help out a sponsored walk and a roleplay event in the spring. I get the impression it's quite well organised. I'll try and update you again once he's bedded in. He got bored of cubs as he's quite outdoorsy anyway, I think cadets will give him some new skills.

No direct experience of police cadets, sorry, but my DS started Air Cadets in September and he absolutely loves it. Lovely bunch of kids, varied activities (so far he's done mountain biking, poppy selling, swimming, cross-country, loads of STEM, and he spent this past Wednesday evening crawling round a park in the mud in full camo gear). He loves the drills and marching and takes huge pride in his uniform and in being part of a squadron. Another lad we know who had behavioural problems at school (ADHD-related) joined the sea cadets and it's been the absolute making of him.
