Keighley - is it worth a visit to look round the shops or will I just find Poundland and Argos?

In the area, rainy day, wondering if there is anything nice in Keighley?

I would go to Haworth instead...very picturesque, a bit more touristy, still close to Keighley. I haven’t been to keighley for years, but it was run down when I used to go...it may have improved now, but...

Still very much rundown and wouldn't recommend. Saltaire nearby is nice.

I don't think Keighley is somewhere where you go for the shops and general town ambience. Some of the surrounding countryside is lovely, but it doesn't sound like that's what you want.

Second the Saltaire recommendation. Lovely bookshop, galleries and cafe in Salt's Mill and you can walk in Roberts Park and along the canal if the weather is favourable.

I wouldn't waste your time on Keighley for any reason, Saltaire and Haworth are much much nicer. A bit further afield, Hebden Bridge is worth a visit but not at the moment I expect.

Don't bother even stepping foot in it - I was brought up just outside of Keighley. Haworth is lovely and saltaire is interesting from an architectural point of view. Skipton and Grassington in the other direction. Harrogate better still!

Grin Just driven round the outskirts to get to Riddlesden Hall, which is lovely. Think we’ll give the town centre a miss, judging by what we saw through the car windows and your helpful comments. Just going to google Saltaire ... Thanks all!

Ilkley isn't far for shops.

Saltaire is lovely for a stroll round. You can call in for a brew if you like! Grin

Salts Mill is good for a browse - esp the Hockney gallery (and the diner for milkshakes!)..
