NHS appointments systems down?

I've been trying to book a GP appointment this morning, was told "our computers are down, call back in an hour ", and when I called back got an automated reply saying that it was a national problem.

Anyone know anything about this?

Yes EMIS down country wide - will hopefully be up by lunchtime but currently can’t make appointments print prescriptions view results etc ... chaos.

What a mare! Anyone know why? Such a system would surely need to be very robust and protected, especially after Wannacry.
