Just fed DS and changed his nappy and now he’s sleeping - I would say peacefully but it’s more of a grunty, drunken piglet type newborn sleep Grin - and typically I am now wide awake.

Anyone else up!
I’ve been reading about the coronavirus, bad idea at this time in the morning, freaked myself out. So am now drinking tea and eating dark chocolate and browsing make up as I’m planning to sort all mine out soon.

Also thinking about what to buy for the next online shop and everything I have to do tomorrow / DS has his jabs in the morning and I’m dreading both going to the GP and him getting a bit poorly afterwards.

How’s everyone else ?

I'm awake! I shouldn't be, insomnia strikes again.

I hope you're sleeping now but if not... ahh the jabs suck but he will be fine. And you are never alone, there is always someone up here!

Shinyshoes2 · 18/02/2020 03:32

I'm currently in a hotel room in Amsterdam having a massive crash down from eating a peice of space cake
Its bloody horrendous and I've never felt so fucked , the whole thing
Thankfully I'll be home by this afternoon so I can recover from my stupidity in my own bed
I'm one of the few that's isnt bothered by the coronavirus

CaramelCrunch · 18/02/2020 03:35

Up feeding DD2. Think I would rather be on the space cake! I wonder if it would go through the breast milk to baby? Not about to try it to find out, just curious...

Hmmmmm , good question Caramelcrunch,

Dennisreynoldsduster · 18/02/2020 03:39

@Shinyshoes2 the space cake sounds fun in theory but the “bloody horrendous” bit makes me glad my only vice is dark chocolate at the moment! Hope you feel better and more normal soon Grin

Thanks @DramaLlamaMeditation I’m a first time mum so don’t know what to expect really. Glad DH is coming although I’m being precious about having DS in the waiting room with all the germs - I know I am being ridiculous and very PFB 🙈

@CaramelCrunch I’m interested in things going through to the breast milk -
I’ve got a cold and apparently can’t take loads of cold and flu drugs because of bf but my
Midwife friend said things going through to the milk is largely anecdotal and limited evidence for it! So who knows

Im extremely nervously watching the river across the road from me. There are road closures, police about and I'm getting very jittery indeed.

Megan2018 · 18/02/2020 03:49

I can’t get back to sleep after DD last feed 2hrs ago. She is sleeping soundly (5 months old), we bed share and she is snuggled in close.

I have GP on Thurs for blood test results, suspected thyroid problem. Shitting it.

The problem with cold medication and BF is mainly that they affect milk supply quite substantially. This is more of the issue than what passes to baby.

I wish I could sleep!

CaramelCrunch · 18/02/2020 03:51

I think the reason for avoiding a lot of the cold medicine is not that it passes over so much, it's that anti congestants effectively tell your body to "make less stuff", and that applies to both phlegm etc and breast milk. No medical background so don't know if that's true, just something I read.

Don't worry about the jabs, it will be hard but it's for the greater good - better to hold your baby and comfort them for a few minutes than have them get measles/diptheria/etc.

Dennisreynoldsduster · 18/02/2020 03:54

Oh that’s interesting I didn’t realise that.

@eyeamhere that sounds scary! Hope you stay safe.

Thanks caramel hopefully won’t be as bad as expected!

I'm awake again as normal. Bloody insomnia. Laughing at the space cake post as it reminds me of being young and foolish. No such nonsense for me now. Just need to try to get a bit of sleep before work. I hate my job which doesn't help either.

CaramelCrunch · 18/02/2020 04:01

I think the worst bit is the rotovirus stuff they put in the mouth because that goes through to nappies for 2 weeks afterwards, so be really careful with hand washing and if your DS is anything like my babies, prepare for some mighty poo explosions in the next few days. Seriously, pack extra clothes for baby, you, and anyone within a 10 foot radius...

Right, baby's nodded off so going to try and get back to sleep, hope everyone else gets some rest too.

sashh · 18/02/2020 04:06

Morning all, the cafe is open, coffee all round? A slice of (non space) cake?

Dennisreynoldsduster · 18/02/2020 04:08

Thanks for the warning caramel DS isn’t a stranger to the explosive poo anyway so I shall be prepared!

Morning @sashh you made me virtual toast on another of these threads, glad to see you here with cake 😀

@TipseyTorvey sorry you’ve got insomnia :( that’s rubbish

Shinyshoes2

Do you think the not bothered about coronavirus and space cake are related?

Megan2018 · 18/02/2020 04:11

We’ve had all 3 sets of jabs and it was all pretty unremarkable. DD slept lots after each time thanks to Calpol. A small amount of very distressed crying each time the following day, but nothing that couldn’t be comforted with boob.
She didn’t cry much when it was done either-but I think she’s quite tough for such a tiny one (0.4 centile baby). The bigger boys in my NCT group were much more upset!

sashh · 18/02/2020 04:11

Yea I'm often around at this time, pain meds wear off and once I'm awake I don't go back to sleep. On the upside I'm seeing the local foxes on a regular basis, both a male and a female arrive about 30 mins apart. I'm hoping for cubs later in the year.

ChelseaCat · 18/02/2020 04:18

Joining the group! I’m up feeding my 7 week old - OP we have our vaccinations next week and I’m dreading them too. Glad I now know to expect explosions afterwards 😬

Shinyshoes2 · 18/02/2020 04:19

@sashh ... no not related was answering the OP
My first time ever with the cake and trust me I wouldn't do it again , laying here at this time because the crash is immense its ridiculous behaviour , how I did these kind of things for " fun " prechildren
I've just not been bothered about the coronavirus, not even on the plane here and they are normally a hotbed of disease
I wasnt particularly worried about Bird flu , sars or swine either which I didnt catch and also didnt know anyone that caught it either
Alot of people i know are worried , 2 woman i know wont go back to their nail shop because they are chinese Hmm one wont eat from a Chinese takeaway
I think its unnecessary worrying so much

TipseyTorvey · 18/02/2020 04:19

Dennis I know everyone thinks we're bonkers but come and join the preppers on the corona virus thread. I was worried about it but now I'm stocked up I feel I've done all I can so I'm a lot calmer. I used to love the old expression 'worrying is what you do when there's nothing you can do about it', so now I've done all I can I l'm not worried. Okay the house is full of tins but I'll use them eventually I guess 😂

crazycatlady7 · 18/02/2020 04:27

Morning all,

I'm up having a horrendous night with DS, last night was just as bad. We had the last jabs yesterday and he seemed happy just before bed... but been up since 11pm just dozing... DH took him for a bit at 1am to try to get me some sleep but no luck... and now just had screaming before he's settled on my breast. So DH is awake again.

Dennisreynoldsduster · 18/02/2020 04:28

I’ve been on @TipseyTorvey I’m a planner at heart so having a stock always makes me feel better especially with DS :) after we got knocked out by a bout of norovirus a few years back with NOTHING in and our water went off at the same time I’ve vowed NEVER AGAIN.

@ChelseaCat I will report back when we’ve had ours done!

ChelseaCat · 18/02/2020 04:36

Yes please do OP!

Dennisreynoldsduster · 18/02/2020 04:37

Oh @crazycatlady7 poor you and poor little one :( I am not looking forward to the distressed crying :(

Morning all, I'm 9 weeks pregnant and have been waking up at 3am since before I even POAS!

This is baby number 3 and you've got me thinking about how I could have a cup of tea and some chocolate when I'm up through the night feeding... I think my chilly bottle will come in handy!

Just starting to feel queasy now I've been awake for 90 minutes.
