Hot Cross Bun drama....

Thorilicious · 17/02/2020 20:15

DH has just gone to the kitchen, got a hot Cross Bun, and has just eaten it as is.
No slicing it open, no toasting it, no butter.

How did I not know this about him before I married him Confused
(light hearted!)

Nooooooo.

There are some posters on here who do that.

hairychinsrus · 17/02/2020 20:20

That is the ONLY way to eat them! Not toasted, not split, hot cross buns as they should be in their natural state Grin

KnifeAngel · 17/02/2020 20:21

That's the best way. Butter is revolting and ruins everything.

Thorilicious · 17/02/2020 20:22

I'm so surprised that there are people agreeing with DH!!
The clues in the name, people! Hot=toasted...

Oooh I love a hot cross bun ‘au natural’ from time to time but only if they’re very soft and fresh!

iklboo · 17/02/2020 20:23

Hot cross buns are foul

ChippyMinton · 17/02/2020 20:24

Fresh- as they come
Slightly less fresh - toasted and buttered
Stale - bread and butter pudding

DaphneFanshaw · 17/02/2020 20:24

What a fecking barbarian.

I am fumming on your behalf op.

ElfrideSwancourt · 17/02/2020 20:24

LTB!

ShirleyPhallus · 17/02/2020 20:24

This is how I eat them. Too much admin getting the toaster out, toasting them, dealing with the crumbs etc etc

LadyOfTheCanyon · 17/02/2020 20:26

Nah you eat them in the wild. No butter, no toasting. Just rip their little raisiny hearts out and tuck in.

Purplequalitystreet · 17/02/2020 20:26

I've done this. Usually when I'm running late with no time for breakfast. Just grab one to eat on the train. I quite like it, but equally feel guilty that I've "wasted" a hot cross bun!

user32564567 · 17/02/2020 20:27

I prefer them not toasted, but they need butter.

AngusDuck · 17/02/2020 20:28

Exactly this.

mumsiedarlingrevolta · 17/02/2020 20:28

My first ever LTB

Must be split, toasted and slathered in real salty butter

what else do you not know about him?????

CassandraCross · 17/02/2020 20:29

There is no hope for me, I eat Hot Cross Buns as they are if they are really fresh and soft, I also eat them split and buttered, (the butter has to be thick enough that you leave teeth marks in it) and I also have them toasted.

I am no help at all in your dilemma, OP.

MrsEsss · 17/02/2020 20:32

Yes, exactly. Asda bakery do lovely freshly baked soft hot cross buns and they are delicious to eat as they come.

SpinningBob · 17/02/2020 20:32

My 8 year old daughter eats hot cross buns AND scones like this.....DH and I can barely stand to watch...she has clearly been picking up these barbarian habits elsewhere!

CherryPlum · 17/02/2020 20:33

This is a red flag OP, he has shown you his true self. Run

SophieJo · 17/02/2020 20:37

I feel your pain but cannot wait long enough to toast an M and S hot chilli and cheese bun!

SweetPeaPods · 17/02/2020 20:39

M&S chilli cheese hot cross bun makes amazing cheese on toast!! Wink

JayAlfredPrufrock · 17/02/2020 20:41

On another thread there were many people questioning cheese on a hot cross bun.

Fools.

Our local bakers bags their own. They are the size of a proper tea cake and sticky as hell. Yum.

farmertom · 17/02/2020 20:42

Also how I eat them 🤷‍♀️

happymummy12345 · 17/02/2020 20:46

No. The only way I ever have mine is cold, open so top and bottom are separate, half just butter on half butter and strawberry jam.

user32564567 · 17/02/2020 20:50

Wait! M & S do a chilli cheese hot cross bun? How did I not know this?
