a laptop one or a hiking one?

A couple of years ago there was a thread and I bought this one from a suggestion On that thread from Accessorise - but their current backpacks are a bit drab.

Any suggestions gratefully received !

PS On the thread mentioned above, a poster linked to a soft leather backpack that cost £800+, describing it as an investment Shock. I am not looking for an investment!

Have you looked at these? They are very popular, but on the more expensive side.

I’m not sure how old your son is, but my 7 year old has been using a Cath Kidston Midi backpack for a couple of years. It’s a good size for him to comfortably carry, and it’s very hard-wearing.

INeedToGetHealthy · 16/02/2020 16:28

I would avoid bags from brands such as Hype and Under Armour as they are expensive to buy and break easily.

Aridane · 16/02/2020 16:37

Thank you all

@Equimum - there are some lovely fun backpacks on the Cath Kidston website. I had though Cath Kidston was all twee florals and London red buses but seemingly not!

I have all sorts of bags in the blue dots range from Reisenthel. DH has the black backpack for daily use. Hardwearing, stylish and cheap! www.reisenthel.com

Mia tui have some nice ones - not patterned but loads of different colour choices

Last time I was in tkmaxx they had lots of patterned Roxy rucksacks similar to the one in your pic. I'm not sure how much they cost but I am confident it would have been much much less than £800!

I got a nice one from Dakine via Amazon.

flooooomp · 16/02/2020 17:26

Or Kipling?

TimeIhadaNameChange · 16/02/2020 17:28

I like the Kipling ones. Smarter than a hiking one, waterproof and washable.

islandislandisland · 16/02/2020 17:31

I have this, it's really good quality and you can adjust the fastening to accommodate more stuff. Not waterproof though but nice for summer

@Sgtmajormummy - the reisenthel ones look fun. Also like the idea of a foldaway one in my handbag as an alternative to a shopper

Will also try TKMaxx - last time I went didn’t yield much but worth a second go

I have one made by Atlantic Equipment handmade and completely waterproof as well as being the equivalent of a Mary Poppins handbag! They have a sale on at the moment, I have been eyeing one up for DD.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 17/02/2020 08:43

Mine is Kipling. It's really light, washable and has useful pockets.

IndecentFeminist · 17/02/2020 08:44

I got a Roka one from TK maxx last year, I think it looks pretty good

SquitMcJit · 17/02/2020 08:47

I second Dakine - I’ve had mine 2 years and it’s great. Loads of pockets and lovely design.

I have the bee one

Sorry no idea how to shorten that link but I have a burgundy one, its a perfect size as a handbag rucksack but no good for carrying anything too large.

Aridane · 17/02/2020 12:33

So many great ideas - I have a feeling I may end up with more than one backpack Wink
