Kids waterproof trousers

Mirackleeus · 15/02/2020 21:10

Can anyone point me in the direction of good 'pull on over your trousers' waterproof trousers please? I don't know what brands are good so I'm loathe to pay £20+ for something which lets in water!

On mountainwarehouse.com contenders include:
Pakka
Spray Kids

On gooutdoors.co.uk

Hi-gear
Sprayway
Dare 2B

Thank you for your help.

Lidl's are the absolute best of all. Impenetrable waxy outer and fleece lined. DD1 has grown out of them and we've got dare2b at a much higher price but they aren't a pitch

Mirackleeus · 15/02/2020 21:15

Do Lidl sell them all year round? It's a bit of a trek to it so want to double check it's worth a trip.

What age?

I've only got experience of little kids currently but jojo maman Bebe do lovely pack away waterproof dungarees and trouser upto aged 6

Frugi do good ones up to age 7

Both are over £20 though.

I'd recommend looking on eBay to though as they really do stand up to some wear

I have bought them from Trespass or sometimes I’ve got Regatta ones on Amazon. I’ve only ever paid about £10 - £12.

MeanMrMustardSeed · 15/02/2020 21:31

Muddy puddles. Every time. Look out for second hand, or buy new and then sell on.

NannyR · 15/02/2020 21:33

If they are for under fives, the jojo maman bebe waterproofs are brilliant. They do packaway ones and fleece lined ones.

happycamper11 · 15/02/2020 21:34

Our Lidls currently have old stock kicking about still. I can't guarantee all branches will have them though. DC both ride and spend a lot of time on yards and they've never failed us. Never found an adult equivalent to match sadly

hiimmumma · 15/02/2020 21:45

I got some from Polarn O Pyret in the sale for £20
Fleece lined and with braces but they also sell thinner and pull up. The best brand for outdoor wear imo.

My son has been up to his thighs in muddy puddles and goes to forest school and they have never ever let in water!

(Waterproof boots are essential too though)

happypotamus · 15/02/2020 21:50

I got DDs' from Mountain Warehouse. Looking at the colours available on the website I think I got the Spray Kids for one and Pakka for the other. Both are good and work well.

Smurf123 · 15/02/2020 21:59

Check out the lidl website for latest catalogue.. Due in my local store from the 20th - £5.99

Mirackleeus · 15/02/2020 22:01

Thanks everyone! Forgot to say it's 7-8 or 8-9 depending on sizing. She'll be in them for at least a year hopefully.

H&M do some brilliant ones

Charis1503 · 15/02/2020 22:09

I second.lidl!! Absolutly amazing. My little one goes to a nature nursery and has never been wet..

Search ebay for lupilu (lidl) waterproof dungaree trousers... im sure someone must be selling some?! They do come up giant though. X

Deadheadstickeronacadillac · 15/02/2020 22:14

Muddy puddles stuff was always excellent.

KindKylie · 15/02/2020 22:17

We're outdoor types and all our kids wear the Lidl ones with great success. They're wind proof too so really good on the moors.

As a PP says, there's no equivalent for grown ups unfortunately!

2020nymph · 15/02/2020 22:18

We got some from Decathlon.

missyB1 · 15/02/2020 22:18

Regatta or Peter Storm. Ds age 11 has to have them every year for forest school. The current pair are Peter Storm and are 2 years old.

northernlittledonkey · 15/02/2020 22:19

Buy second hand from eBay,

Mirackleeus · 15/02/2020 22:36

Thanks for the heads up on sizing. If I trekked to Lidl or bought online that would be very handy. Ebay looks a winner.

Lidl biggest size is 6-8. They are generous and I’ve just had to buy different for DD1 for the first time now age 10. She’d worn them til last month

Mirackleeus · 15/02/2020 22:46

I've bought some from Ebay which are Lupilu (Lidl brand). Gone for 122-128 which will fit DD2 one day if they do come up too small for DD1. Thanks for the advice everyone.
