Diazepam and Codiene... well this is fun!

Lighthearted! I had a car accident and have been prescribed these. I had to get back in the driving saddle so to speak today so didn’t take anything but paracetamol (worries they’d affect driving) so when I was home and no longer needing to drive I was in agony and took the 5mg diazepam and 60mg codiene straight away and now feel not just pain free but pretty chilled and a bit high Grin. Anyone else felt like this on this combo?

Actually it can be a dangerous combination - talk to your GP. Don’t drink any alcohol at all.

This is exactly what my Gp prescribed me. I think I’d be on the floor with any booze so it’s a non starter!

She says they’ve been prescribed so the GP/a+e doc or whoever must have assessed them as appropriate pain relief for the risk.

There’s no need to talk to a gp if the prescriber knows they are being taken together.

I was prescribed a potentially very dangerous drug combo after an accident but taken as prescribed the risk is minimised and outweighed by the benefits.

Opioids make me vomit o/p so I can’t take them. I have taken diazepam and loved that it stopped me giving a shit about anything..I can see why they’re addictive...

Opioids and benzos are a dangerous combo. Be careful.

I get prescribed diazepam for slipped discs, (every few years, it’s not an ongoing issue!) and it makes me feel very floaty and relaxed.
Have taken it in combination with codeine on advice from gp in the past and it puts me to sleep very quickly.
Just don’t drink or drive on them, or for the day after to be on the safe side.
