11 plus interview

My child just had an 11 plus interview. He was asked the names of other schools that he applied to, was asked to chose his favourite ones and then asked reasons why he liked those other school. After the interrogation about competitor schools, he was then asked about the reason he was interested in the school he was interviewed for. Is this question acceptable? This questioning took up 50% of the time. He was not accepted.

Why is it unacceptable? They probably want to see which kids are able to form an opinion and explain it. They don't want ones who parrot what mum and dad say.

That does sound a little harsh to me.

Thank you for the reply. Also found it odd that there weren't questions on math, or english, or general knowledge, to determine his cability. The mainly chose to get his feed back on other schools.
