Mystery Flowers

So. Yesterday I had a beautiful bunch of 12 long stemmed red roses delivered...
I'm single, so no complications there.
Cryptic card, which read 'Roses are red, Violets are blue, bet you can't guess who sent you these *name Boo! Xxx'

I've racked and racked my brains, embarrassingly asked half a dozen acquaintances (they've all said no and I believe them) and no one has dropped so much as a hint!

Why would someone do this and not made themselves known? I'm hugely flattered obviously but just ever so slightly irritated too.... how do I find out? What's the point otherwise?
What if I never know?? Agh!

They were delivered to my work, btw. Not home.

It was Valentines so just enjoy them, no need to worry about who sent them, that's all part of the mystery.

SnorkMaiden81 · 15/02/2020 13:57

Do you think so? I woke up at 3am forensically eliminating people from my enquires...but I am a chronic over thinker.

Urgh that would piss me off. Not a mystery ‘I really like you’ from a secret admirer, but a challenge ‘bet you can’t guess who I am’.

HappyHammy · 15/02/2020 14:09

You have a secret admirerFlowers

Horehound · 15/02/2020 14:11

I assume it's a work colleague

Letmedowneasy · 15/02/2020 14:18

They are from Interflora, you can contact them and ask who the sender was...I'm a florist, it happens every time at Valentines, there's a whole load of men who like to do this, creepy and unnecessary.

Hepsibar · 15/02/2020 14:31

Snork Maiden, do you think your roses were from the Moomins?

Hepsibar · 15/02/2020 14:32

I thought it was all meant to be anonymous on St Valentine's ... unrequited love and all that ... but obv we all do it to our partners to reassure them ... unless we've got over the commercial claptrap of it all.

I had a random box of lindt chocolates arrive from amazon prime 2 weeks ago. No card, no return address and still no idea where they came from! Hubby and I enjoyed eating them though Grin

Ok so I asked the florist and she said that she couldn't tell me, 'data protection' etc. I didn't push it as I understand their boundaries etc.

Like a PP said, I think my slight annoyance is coming from the 'bet you can't guess' game, it's only amusing for a short time.

I work and deal with a lot of partnered men through work and I'd actually be quite angry if this was a cloak and dagger 'come on'.

I know, I need to unclench. Grin

The florist actually said she sympathised and that she has delivered to women in the past for whom the gift was distressing and nothing short of harassment. That's so awful.

(Not that I'm suggesting these are..)

I got a bunch of flowers years ago from "Simon" but the only Simon I knew was part of my social group and was married.

But I worked an an airport and there was a fire department which had "Simon" on the front of the fire trucks! But nope it wasn't from any of the firemen shame

I found out who they were from one Sunday a month later, when a flat mates friend was round and there was a bible story on the tv and he commented that if I'd been paying attention to the tv I'd know who the flowers were from!

Luckily 🙄 I had a bible and was able to look read the story that I'd missed on Tv.....there was a bit about one of the apostles who was called Peter but had previously been known as Simon, Peter was the flatmates, mates brother who I had absolutely no interest in at all..,..,my flat mate thought the clue was incredibly clever, I just thought it was a complete waste of time

Don't bother worrying about who they're from, it'll probably be a massive disappointment if you do find out
