Am I misremembering croissants?

They used to be rounder didn’t they? I’m sure their little feet used to come round to meet in the middle if you get me, but now they’re all so straight.

Did I dream it or have they changed?

Yes. It was a tissue of linden flowers.

The Recherche rises out of the cup like steam/aroma, then collapses back in like the over-saturated Madeleine piece.

Tisane- not tissue.

I wonder what I would feel if I dip my Jaffa cake into my green tea? Grin

Almond croissants are the best. I love a good pain au raisin too, but any good quality croissant/Danish pastry will do for me. No prospect of having anything like that today. Too much of a wimp to go out to the shops for one, for a start, as the wind is getting up a bit now. My waistline* will thank me.

  • OK, midriff - there's not much actual waist there now, thanks to my deep love of carbs, especially combined with fat

Round croissants.

Isn’t it linden flowers that smell like jizz?

ChardonnaysDistantCousin · 15/02/2020 13:29

TBF, tissue does exactly the same thing in a cup of tea. It rises in the steam, floats briefly on the surface and sinks to the bottom, disintegrating in bits.

No, unless your man has been drinking gallons of the stuff.

I think it's bleach you are confusing it with, which is a bit worrying.

isseywith4vampirecats · 15/02/2020 13:31

croissants with ham and brie cheese are food of the gods no butter though as the cheese makes them rich enough, with jam or honey I put butter on as im greedy

FlamingoAndJohn · 15/02/2020 13:33

Mitchell and Webb think they do. m.youtube.com/watch?v=O4p0uw42cdo

The spreadability factor?
Tsk. I pull them apart to spread the butter on.

Sick, probably.

Much like I would having croissants with jam. The best way is to create a pocket and stuff with cheese and smoked ham, then warm through in the oven.

ClappyFlappy · 16/02/2020 01:30

Thank you @FlamingoAndJohn, I guessed that was the shape people meant, I would never call them round though. Still tasty regardless 😊

PigletJohn · 16/02/2020 01:39

Crescent-shaped, to be fair.

Do English people say "linden" to mean "lime trees?"

LonginesPrime · 16/02/2020 01:46

Crescent is the word I was looking for. Ignore my bit about the legs

^ This is why I love Mumsnet Grin

Hollyhobbi · 16/02/2020 02:15

Havent seen a croissant with feet/legs for years! Can you even get round croissants in Ireland anymore? My favourite are the frozen ones Aldi have now. With Aldis jam from West Cork strawberry or raspberry but preferably strawberry. That's breakfast for today sorted. Smile
