Anyone been to Luxembourg City?

.....and would you recommend visiting? I’ve booked most of our summer holiday but need a one night stop off somewhere between Calais and the Black Forest and Luxembourg City is about the right distance. We’ll arrive mid afternoon then leave after lunch the next day so just want somewhere pretty to wander around and to have an evening meal. We’ll be driving so is it easy to drive in/out of and the DCs are 9 & 14?

Should be fine - near a tram stop! If you like walking, cross JFK and go to the fort then descend the gorge down the footpath from there to the river, cross the river to the lift and get the lift up to the old town on the other side ... then walk along the battlements and past the ducal palace, town squares etc you can get the tram back after a look around.

Luxembourg (the whole country, rather than just the city) is a great place to refuel your car. Significantly cheaper than surrounding areas. Enjoy.
