Help me find a suitable holiday destination

Hi all! Please help. Looking for a holiday for 2 adults and a 9 year old with food allergies- so we need to be able to make sure we can feed him with no worry, preferably self catering from a supermarket. We’d like a holiday home rather than a hotel, sunshine, decent weather and to not be more than a few hours flight. I know that’s a big ask- any suggestions?!

Can you give us an idea of budget and dates/time of year?

Also what the allergies are? I do know that in Spain, gluten free food is often marked 'sin gluten' and this includes many 'normal' foods eg sausages, not specialist products. You'd probably need to know what you're looking for in the local language, whatever allergies are a concern.

We stayed here not so long ago. Decent enough supermarket less than 5 minutes way away, also near marina with variety of restaurants, beaches, waterpark not so far away and plenty else to do on the island. You can book direct and sort your own flights, or via package operators.

But it's not a big ask really. There must be endless SC holiday options in Europe with an accessible supermarket.

I also remember allergens being marked on many restaurant menus. I think it's due to EU legislation, just like you see here, so anywhere in the EU should be able to tell you about allergens.

The Algarve ticks every box, down to having branches of Aldi and Lidl

Budget, let’s say 2k including flights and holiday home. Ooh they have aldi in the algarve?

We went to Tenerife recently, had a cheap and lovely Airbnb, self catering, packed lunches etc. Hired a car, explored a lot and amazing whale and dolphin watching.

Last year I went to lanzarote & we hired a two bedroom villa with a pool in Matagorda a very short walk from the beautiful sandy beach, and from the local Spar supermarket.

A short drive away near Arrecife is a Lidl.
Hiring a car is easy there & the roads are good to drive on, we drove all over the island.
