Dumped menopausal women

So I've been divorced for a year and I've had to downsize.
I've moved into a very nice little modern cottage in a row of 5 in a lovely 17th century village in a much cheaper part of the country.
Yesterday the other 4 residents came over in a "gang" to say hello and bring flowers. They are all lovely.
All of them are around my age and their husbands left them during the menopause.
It's like some kind of menopausal womens leper colony.
Makes me wonder what percentage of menopausal women get divorced or their husbands leave them.
Any mid life divorcees on here?

This sounds like the start of a novel or a film 😊

Looks like fate conspired to find you a great place to live after a hard time

Right OP!
Where do I sign up?
It sounds fantastic.
Some friends and I have plans to buy a property somewhere near the sea with our own ensuite rooms and communal spaces.
We're planning to call it the Sunshine Sanctuary for Middle Aged Cast Offs.

Men are trash. I'm not menopausal but am ready for the leper colony, bring on the crones! Can't see myself ever putting up with a man again. I think these younger women are desperate for a man they see as a solid bet.

Yup 'my' OW was. I just pity her really when I think about what she's landed herself with. She's very welcome to him.

Ofthread · 14/02/2020 17:22

'My' OW was a younger 'friend' who had been worming her way in and would constantly moan about how she wanted to find a man and get a mortgage - thrilling.

Newgirls · 14/02/2020 17:28

I’m baffled when I look around me - the women my age are in so much better shape than the men! How is this happening? You’re row of houses sounds ace

The80sweregreat · 14/02/2020 17:35

Yep, write a book! Could be a big seller and I can see it as a film too.

Forgetfebuary · 14/02/2020 17:39

Hilarious 😂, menopausal leper colony.

Anyway on the back of this thread I don't have think I'll be sharing my menopause with my dh!!
Keep it secret....

NomDeQwerty · 14/02/2020 17:40

I could write a book about the last 10 years but it would sound too far fetched.

BringMeTea · 14/02/2020 17:45

Write the book!

Riv12345 · 14/02/2020 17:49

Hi does anyone out there keep stick insects?

The80sweregreat · 14/02/2020 17:58

Nom, write the book!
😊 most fiction I read these days is very far fetched!

Dozer · 14/02/2020 18:02

“ Who are these younger women who want these older grumpier grey or bald headed men? I wouldn't go for a younger man myself , but some women seem to like / prefer an older man ?“

An apparent “family man” with money/well paid jobs, and doubt the men treat potential new dates the way they treat their DW/DP!

The80sweregreat · 14/02/2020 18:04

Dozer, I guess so! Sad really that men can't be happy with what they have and think a 'younger model ' will be better.
The younger one will be Peri menopausal sooner or later!

Dozer · 14/02/2020 18:11

more likely by then will have dumped the older man.

Mintjulia · 14/02/2020 18:14

The thing is you'll all have the last laugh on your wayward exes.

Studies show that single women above 50 have much nicer lives because they look after themselves & don't wear themselves down looking after their husbands.

Whereas single men above fifty generally don't cope as well.

BrassicaBabe · 14/02/2020 18:24

menopausal womens leper colony best laugh I've had all day. Thanks!
