How to stop breastfeeding one year old?

DS is 15 months old and still breastfeeds a lot, much to my dismay... He eats three solid meals plus snacks and drinks water but will still headbutt my chest and scream at me until I give in. I have tried placing him down on the floor every time he does this but he climbs back up to headbutt me again and again so I end up caving. I don’t think he’s hungry, I think it’s a comfort thing like a dummy. I have tried actual dummies but he just spits them out and throws them.

I have enjoyed breastfeeding but I’d quite like my breasts back now Grin. Any advice?

I should add, I’ve also tried offering water instead of breast every time but again he usually drinks a bit then throws his cup 😬.

Your ds sounds very much how my ds was, he is almost 2 and fully weaned off the breast which I thought would never ever happen he was so dependent on it.
I started weaning him off gradually, I first started by dropping his daytime feeds, if he asked I would distract him with something like his favourite snack, toy or programme. He cried a lot and I felt really bad but eventually he got the message and didn't ask.

The night time feeds were the hardest as he fed to sleep, I tried to give him a bottle which he refused. The way I found he took it was put him on breast and quickly swap the breast to bottle. During the night when he woke I would still give him breast until he was taking the bottle fine and then I started doing the same during the night. My family helped massively and had him over night a few times which really helped as he got used to not having breast milk.

Now he doesn't have any milk during the night and just has the 1 bottle of cows milk before bed. I do miss feeding him but it's for the best.

Hope this helps and good luck x
