How many times a week do you drink?

I was teetotaler until November, and I still don't drink much… On two occasions though, including this week I've had beer nearly every day… It's not a lot, not even one can…

But I'm just wondering how often people drink? And do you drink a lot and want to go? Or do you drink a little every day?

Even when I drink a little, I get a headache, so I don't overdo it.

I guess most my friends are lushes compared to everyone here! I have friends who drink a bottle every night to some who drink weekends only. I go from no drinking at all for two to three months to most nights for two - three weeks. I'd like to not drink Monday to Thursday and then have a bottle over the weekend. But seems it's all or nothing.

Fridays and Saturdays, 3 or 4 glasses of wine. Other days if i have a work event/celebration

Sometimes a thimble at Christmas or other times a bottle of vodka a day.

I wonder if this thread is representative or just attracting people who drink less ! I am a bit worried now as I drink a glass of wine or two or else a g &t every day. I guess I’d better check how ok that is with health guidelines but I find it enjoyable when I am cooking dinner

I can go several weeks without anything and then just fancy a random can of cider or G&T. The dentist has me recorded at 0-4 units per month (as long as it's not December or August Grin) My last big session was in October at a family occasion, I think that was about 7 drinks over 9 hours? I can go a few years between sessions like that!

I don't want a hangover around the DCs, and too much alcohol doesn't sit well in my digestive system which is a good deterrent for regular drinking.

Probably averages out at 1 drink every 2 weeks.

JesusInTheCabbageVan · 13/02/2020 21:22

Looseleaf I'm coming on to say 4 days a week - because this thread needs balancing out!

None. Not healthy for the body, expensive and I don’t like it being normalised to children so we rarely have it in the house.

Daisywho · 13/02/2020 22:11

I’ve recently started having a glass of wine on weekend nights again after about four years teetotal (for pregnancy/breastfeeding/young DC-type reasons) - I have to say, it’s lovely to be back off the wagon! Grin

I think a healthy relationship with alcohol is life-enhancing. A nice glass of wine with a meal, a crisp G&T with ice and a wedge of lime, a giant Pimm’s loaded with fruit on a hot summer’s day... ahh, bliss. I was brought up to enjoy alcohol at home with family from about age 15-ish and as such have never been a binge drinker or drunk “to get drunk”, if that makes sense. I hope to do the same with my DC.

Momof2boys1girl · 13/02/2020 22:27

🙈 I have 2 bottles of wine over Friday Saturday and sunday sometimes a bottle midweek. I love wine. Probably far too much but I enjoy it and very rarely go out.

wapbapboo · 13/02/2020 22:33

Why does it matter? Just stick within the nhs guidelines.

I have about one glass of wine a month.

firesong · 13/02/2020 22:37

Most weeknights I have a glass of wine, sometimes two. Sometimes I don't fancy it, or have none left! Quite a lot of Saturday nights out and I feel I drink too much then - not because I end up really drunk, it's just that I had a drinking app and was horrified when I added it all up!

Bluerussian · 13/02/2020 22:39

About four times a week, sometimes less. Sometimes on each of those four occasions I drink a little more than is recommended.

Hardly ever used to drink at all, developed bad habits in later life.

Dangermouse80 · 14/02/2020 06:36

A couple of spirits most evenings pre dinner. I have given up chocolate so feel entitled to something nice!
If I go out to dinner with friends I often drive so won't have any alcohol that evening.
Never been a binge drinker but enjoy a couple of drinks to relax in the evening. Don't understand the wish to get so drunk to the point where you are ill.
