We are moving house next week and I am panicking. I am a very last minute person and this thread is proof considering I have wanted to start it 3 weeks ago!

We have booked a moving company and they are gonna do the packing for us, but I still feel that there are still things that need to be done? I just don't know what!

What do I need to short out? When do you update your address in everything and what is everything? (Driving license, bank...?). Also, how does it work with utility bills in terms of changing names and ownership?

Update addresses as soon as possible after the move.

Take pictures of your meters just as you leave your current house, and then again of your new ones as you arrive at the new house. Then phone your supplier, inform them of the move and give them the meter readings.

Council tax again straight away The day you move in.

You could set up a Royal Mail redirection to your new address. We did this for 6 months, so that as letters came in we could phone the companies and get it changed. Things like boots cards, old university alumni correspondence.

Also delete your old address from PayPal/eBay/tescos online once you’ve moved. I didn’t and managed to accidentally order clothes, and a full food shop to my old address! Nightmare 😂

Try and make a list of everything you have:
Driving license, bank accounts, loyalty cards, online shopping accounts, utilities. We phoned sky before we moved to let them know, and then again on the day.

Sorry that’s long, I don’t mean it to sound abrupt either, I’m trying to think back to what we did. Doctors surgeries is another one 😊

Gather all of your important document into one box, passports, Bill's, bank statements etc. Keep those with you not with removers.

Hadn't even thought of that, thanks!
