Letter not arrived could it still turn up?

My dad posted me a letter on Friday (7th) 1st class but it's not yet arrived, realistically could it still turn up? I've spoken to my post office who said it's not officially classed as lost for 3 weeks. Has anyone had any experience of post turning up much later than expected? Any reassurance much appreciated. Thankyou

Could do. Our regular postman is on holiday and the replacement has put two letters for other houses (not even neighbours, one a good half a mile down our very long road, another for a different road which has a slight resemblance to the name of our house) in our letterbox in the course of a week. One was several days late getting to its destination because I stuck it in the pocket of a coat I then didn't wear.

It may still turn up.
I posted something 1st Class using the Signed For service last week and while they managed to deliver it the following day, they ignored the recipient's address, 200 miles away, on the front (next to the postage label and Signed For sticker) and posted it through my letter box even though my name and address were in very small writing in a corner on the back with "sender" written above. Obviously, had the postman actually knocked to get it signed for (I was home) I'd have been able to tell him that.

I posted a small parcel in December 2018, the recipient said they hadn't received it - annoying as it was a gift.
November 2019 it turned up! Good job it wasn't perishables.

Could easily turn up.

I ordered some books recently (from an independent book seller I use frequently). She took both parcels to the post office on the same day at the same time.

The first turned up 48 hours later. The second took nearly 3 weeks Confused
