So, going on a very rare family weekend away whilst I was hoping for wintery walks the weather forecast is absolutely vile!!! I know about the Lobster hatchery in Padstow and a good Leisure Pool in Newquay....does anyone else have any recommendations to keep the kids entertained?! They’re mid primary to early secondary age wise. Any help very gratefully received!!!

Lobster place is 30 minute activity tops? I'd say, its tiny.

Bowling at porth, its on the way to newquay, little place 5 lanes I think.
But inside a pub.

Porth lodge hotel, its called.

Um other than that drive over to eden?

Newquay aquarium, then go to Fistral beach and watch the surfers while having a hot chocolate and pizza in the cafe.
Llanhydrock House isn’t too far to drive to and has a treasure hunt type quiz around the house.

Clip and climb at Cornwall Services (need to book in advance)
Cinema in Newquay or Wadebridge
Ibounce in Bodmin
Lost gardens of heligan (though mostly outside)

There's a lovely cinema in Wadebridge if you fancy a film, and then you could eat at the Saltbox - something for everyone there and it's fantastic street food style.

If you want something active, go to Retallack, hire wetsuits and fling yourselves around the Aqua Park (you'll need to book).

Go and eat lobster rolls at Surfside, Polzeath, and wave watch from inside with a glass of wine and hot chocs for the kids. (Don't eat at the Cracking Crab on the opposite cliff top, it's terrible). You can park in the beach car park and this means you can also grab a beach walk in between the inevitable rain squalls.

Take a short drive down to Lewinnick Lodge on the Pentire side of Newquay. Good food and an incredible place to wave watch.

Hope you have a lovely weekend down here.

Will you have a car with you? If you don't mind going a bit further afield, the National Maritime Museum in Falmouth is great for the ages of your children. And good places to eat nearby too.

Also my daughter loves the Telegraph Museum in Porthcurno. The WW2 tunnels particularly.

Both are a fair drive from Padstow, but fun.

Have a look and see if there's any music on at the Rum Store at Carnglaze Caverns while you're here too.
