Nanny cams

Not sure where I should be posting this. Wonder if any one can recommend a decent and not too expensive nanny cam?

We have one of these in our house www.amazon.co.uk/D-Link-DCS-8300LH-Surveillance-Recording-Compatible/dp/B07CJVTYMW?psc=1&linkCode=xm2&ascsubtag=77f83c11-5c82-4e09-ab2a-d45c00546836&SubscriptionId=AKIAJV4KMHBMUG36SMIQ&creativeASIN=B07CJVTYMW&tag=mumsnetforu03-21&creative=165953&camp=2025
one in the hall and one in on the upstairs landing. So it tracks people coming in and out etc. They can also be moved. Ours are general secuity cameras, rather than filming anyone specific.

Remember you can’t film employees without their knowledge, unless you suspect them of a specific crime. We have a clause in our nanny contract/au pair letter of introduction telling them about our cameras.

It's not actually to film anybody tbh it's more a hidden security camera I'm looking for. Stbxh is being very abusive and checking up on me, saying he's had a key cut etc so it's more just to track if he comes anywhere near the house. Thank you I will look xx

If he's threatening you, you should report him.

clpsmum · 12/02/2020 11:34

@Bezalelle i did report it once but police were absolutely useless tbh. He's saying he's had a key cut behind my back. I don't actually believe him I think he's saying it to play on my anxiety and scare me but think nanny cams would give me peace of mind. Thank you for messaging xx

Would you not be better putting your money into changing the locks?
That way you are safe and secure. The cameras will not prevent entry... only collect evidence that it happened.

clpsmum · 12/02/2020 19:44

@SilverViking yes I'm working on that too. Rubbish it has come to this tbh

Would an obvious camera not be a greater deterrent than a hidden one?

If you want to stop him coming in change the locks and install, big, obvious cameras to cover front and back doors. If he knows you are recording maybe he will have second thoughts.

clpsmum · 12/02/2020 20:15

@keyboardwarrior1 yes you're probably right. It was more about money tbh the nanny cams seem to be more my budget
