What’s for tea/dinner/supper?

What do you call it, and what are you having?

We’re being extra unhealthy and lazy with chip shop food. Mines a bartered sausage, chips with chip shop curry sauce, Mmm!

6w/o DD is having warm milk and bed!

I call it tea and we are having pork chops in a jarred thai curry marinade with whatever veg we have in the fridge. It is actually a wing sauce but the sweet chilli wing sauce is good on salmon so we will try this one on pork.

Cumin in a bolognaise, add a few kidney beans and surely that’s a chilli?! 🤤🤤

I had two giant crumpets with lots of butter and blue cheese, and salad with rocket, watercress, cherry tomatoes, cucumber, radishes and green olives.
Going to have some tinned pears and natural yoghurt with honey in a bit.

A homemade cottage pie is in the oven waiting for (a late) DH to return from work.

--When I say homemade it's 100% in that I even made my own stock from Sunday's beef joint bones and I'm sitting starving waiting to eat it, whilst smelling it in the oven.

For tea we had roast lamb, roast potatoes, cauliflower, broccoli, carrots and peas and a great load of delicious home made gravy mopped up with thick sliced white bread.

PawPatrolMakesMeDrink · 11/02/2020 19:14

We were supposed to be having mac and cheese with roasted butternut Squash mixed into the sauce but it was truly rank so we had the emergency pizzas from the freezer instead.
Followed by wedges of watermelon and oranges.

No, chilli is spicy. My bolognese tastes nothing like my chilli.

ChicChicChicChiclana · 11/02/2020 19:19

Sausages, jacket potatoes, onion gravy, broccoli, leeks and peas.

PityParty4one · 11/02/2020 19:20

Home made corned beef and tatty pie with yesterdays left over cauliflower cheese mash and green beans.

I was wfh today so had the time. DP loves it when he comes home and I do home cooked food. It's not often and I will never tell him but the 1950s housewife in me loves it sometimes.

bettybattenburg · 11/02/2020 19:20

Lime juice

CorianderLord · 11/02/2020 19:21

Dinner is chickpea, aubergine, courgette and cauliflower curry with quinoa, peas and a tomato salad

Why am I still not losing weight you ask? Turns out I can eat many many vegetables

ChicChicChicChiclana · 11/02/2020 19:21

Known as dinner in London.

Mamabear144 · 11/02/2020 19:22

I made a mac'n'cheese because it was handy and I have a chest infection and bad flair up of asthma and it's my 2yo favourite dinner

IJumpedAboardAPirateShip · 11/02/2020 19:24

@CorianderLord that sounds amazing!!

Butternut squash, white bean and red lentil stew here

YicketyYackMamasBack · 11/02/2020 19:29

@bettybattenburg that sounds amazing! I’m a bit of a wuss with spice, hoping to not pass that trait to onto DD..

I would kill for a salad right now.. a salad made with the hot counter chicken, blue cheese, on the vine piccolo tomatoes, radishes, croutons and avocado. My goodness... maybe I’ll have to do that for lunch tomorrow!

More cravings now than when I was pregnant tbh.

Thanks Yickety, it'd be even better if I remembered to add the mince.... Grin

CremeEggThief · 11/02/2020 19:32

DS (17) made fusilli pasta with pesto, borlotti beans, avocado and grated cheese. Yum!

YicketyYackMamasBack · 11/02/2020 19:32

Ooooh also fancying oven roasted big on the vine tomatoes, doused in olive oil, balsamic vinegar, sprinkled with slices of garlic and topped with fresh basil.

With a tiger bloomer for dipping in the juices!

illandBored · 11/02/2020 19:33

KFC chicken!
And to make me feel less bad, I made potato , green beans, cauliflower and carrots roasted on the side.

DS has a hummus sandwich with the veggies, and some fish fingers instead of the KFC.

I’m not proud !

UsernameTaken76 · 11/02/2020 19:47

We had oven baked risotto with smoked salmon and peas for tea from the pinch of nom book. We will sticky toffee pudding and ice cream when DH gets back from Cubs and in need of a treat and a glass of wine!

SomethingNastyInTheBallPool · 11/02/2020 19:51

We’re having Instant Pot chicken biryani. I’ve tried a bit and it’s lush. Really easy, too (as long as you have all the spices).

dementedma · 11/02/2020 19:53

Tea/dinner was mince. With pasta for teen DS, without for me and dh who are low carbing (ignore the two hot cross buns I had this morning and the roll with my soup at lunchtime. Low carbing my arse).

Yesterday was pork chops and broccoli. Tomorrow - who knows?

mamaduckbone · 11/02/2020 19:57

Dinner was prawn and pea risotto with salad. It was nice, but not stodgy and warming enough for this evil weather.
Sausage and mash tomorrow - that's more like it.

Watercoloursky · 11/02/2020 20:09

Just cooking for me tonight, and I'm feeling a bit coldy so wanted something full of greens and vitamins that didn't need me standing over the hob - so I raided the fridge, cut a load of veg into chunks, and oven roasted the lot with plenty of pepper/salt, garlic, chilli flakes, and lemon juice. Cauliflower leaves (they go so crispy!) and florets, broccoli florets and thinly sliced stalk, leek, aubergine, courgette, olives (cooked olives are amazing), plus some peas from the freezer, defrosted and added right at the end. 20 mins in the oven - so tasty! Tomorrow will probs be something meaty (OP, your mention of hot counter chicken is making me drool), there are so many good ideas on this thread!
