Claiming Child Benefit

Hi all

We used to get child benefit but have elected not to receive it as my husband earned too much. Our circumstances have changed and I was wondering whether we should start receiving it again.

Have any of you done this? I understand that income is employment income plus any investment or rental income and that if we have any capital gains, these won’t be included. Do you know if that is the case?

I have stopped and started receiving the money, it was easy to do online. I've since stopped again.

No idea on the rental income, does it not ask you those questions when you opt to start receiving the money again?

I stopped and then started again...it was really easy. Need to stop it again when DH starts his new job.

We just receive it and pay it back where necessary. DH earns over the threshold but once pension etc is considered we pay back a shade less than we receive, plus the money gains interest whilst we have it.

Probably easier than stop / starting a claim.
