Did your second baby arrive later than first?

DC1 was born at 39+5.

I'm now 40+1 with DC2 and absolutely no signs of impending labour. I never expected this!

Saw midwife yesterday and she said the head is still high, could something be wrong?

How long am I going to have to wait? It didn't really cross my mind that I may need to be induced second time but now I'm wondering if I should prepare for it mentally.

Was your second DC later than first?

Yes. You won’t want to hear this, but DC1 was born at 40+6 and DC2 was born at 40+13 (3 hours before they were going to start an induction).

If it’s any consolation, DC2 did have a big head, but the actual birth was much easier than with DC1 and he caused less injuries.

Good luck and I hope you get to cuddle your baby soon.

supersalmon1 · 11/02/2020 10:16

DC1 was 4 weeks early. DC2 was a day late (but arrived in 40 minutes as an unplanned home birth).

Redwinestillfine · 11/02/2020 10:23

DC1 was a day early, DC2 was 9 days early

Both arrived naturally, DC1 7 days early, DC2 7 days late

H1978 · 11/02/2020 10:32

Dd1 9 days late dd2 2 weeks early

Hepsibar · 11/02/2020 11:24

Yes, first was 9 days' late and second was over 2 weeks because I was trying to avoid the whole inducing but had to in the end.

Cremebrule · 11/02/2020 11:49

2 weeks later for me. It felt like an eternity as I assumed the baby would come at the same time.

CormoranStrike · 11/02/2020 11:50

Both of mine were eight days late

RunningKatie · 11/02/2020 13:03

Yes - DC1 12 days late, DC2 15 days late.
Induced with both although (finally) in early labour when induced with DC2. Both have massive heads! But needed a drip to propel them into the world!

picklesdragonisawelshdragon · 11/02/2020 14:05

"However my first baby's head measured even bigger - right at the very top of the scale when born. Trying to think positive"

That could be it then Ellie, but don't worry, the head's all good and squishy! When my DS was born he had compression zigzags all over, he looked like a Klingon, and his head measured average. By his 6 week check, the zigzags had smoothed out and his head was off the top of the charts.

He is perfectly normal looking now!

EmotionalEllie · 11/02/2020 14:35

@picklesdragonisawelshdragon yes but what I meant was that my first DC had a big head (on the scan, even bigger than this one's head) and came naturally at 39+5.

But I guess every labour is different so maybe its causing an issue this time even though it didnt last time.

Did your second baby arrive later than first?

Well, being the second baby, it would have too. It would be weird if the second baby arrived before the first one. Unless you were a time-traveller....

I'm not being very helpful am I?

I'll get my coat....

Juanbablo · 11/02/2020 15:09

Yes! Number 1 was 36+6, number 2 was 40+6, number 3 was 39 exactly.

Poetryinaction · 11/02/2020 17:23

9 days early
17 days early
6 days early (felt late!)

StandardPoodle · 11/02/2020 18:12

Opposite for me - number one was 12 days late, number 2 was 4 days early.

EmotionalEllie · 12/02/2020 09:36

Awaaaaah congratulations OP 🎉

katzenellenbogen · 12/02/2020 12:07

@TheSandman I came on to say exactly the same Grin

Good luck OP - hope something happens soon.

Redwinestillfine · 13/02/2020 10:05

Congratulations Flowers

Land0r · 13/02/2020 14:09

DD1 was 11 days late and DD2 was born on her due date. In daily life, DD1 is never ready when we need to leave the house, whereas DD2 is always organised and ready on time!

LulusMiniEgg · 13/02/2020 14:15

DS - 2 days early
DD - 2 weeks late and had to be induced! (Very quick though 3 hours from start to finish!)

The wait was hellish though, I think I cried everyday! My poor DH was made to DTD, I went for long walks carrying heavy bags, I had multiple sweeps but nothing budged!

Hope you don’t have too much longer to wait!

LulusMiniEgg · 13/02/2020 14:16

Oh congratulations, just saw she’s already arrived!!

PhilomenaChristmasPie · 13/02/2020 14:18

No:

DC1: 38 weeks
DC2: 38 weeks
DC3: 36 weeks
DC4: 41+6 (lazy toad) Grin

CeeceeBloomingdale · 13/02/2020 14:19

Yes, first was early, second very late
