Ectopic pregnancy? Please help

I'm 5 weeks pregnant. Tests showed up very strongly.

I've got quite bad stomach cramps today and they feel worse on one side.

Who do I need to contact? Dr? Midwives? Is there any way this is normal?.

Thanks

You should call your doctor first thing and see if they need to refer you to the Early Pregnancy Unit at your hospital or you can just go there as a drop-in. I had cramping & spotting on Thursday and called the doctor who told me not to worry and that it sounded normal, but by Friday I was even more worried so just went to the hospital. They were able to check me out straight away which a doctor can’t do.... you should find info on your EPU if you google it. See if you can just drop in or the doctor needs to refer you and do the quickest option. Good luck x

Thank you, I've called them and the doctor is going to phone me. I'm only 5+1 so would anything show on an ultrasound?

@NeverGotMyPuppy I'm not too sure. I think if they did an internal one it would and also they can do blood tests to find out and monitor you. Definitely best to go get checked out if you are worried

How did the phonecall go? Hope the pain has subsided. I've had an ectopic so feel free to dm me if needed.

NeverGotMyPuppy · 13/02/2020 22:03

Thanks everyone. The pain is bad in the mornings but then subsides. I am also horribly bloated!

What did the dr say? I had an ectopic, I had one sided pain which radiated down my thigh, had spotting like prune juice and was extremely bloated. Make sure you make the de take this seriously, they should be checking your bloods. Min doubled every 48 hours as they should in a healthy pregnancy, the EPU would not take me seriously at all, a&e left me so I walked out. My tube had ruptured. Don't let them fob you off with how early you are.

Thanks

They refused to take bloods, I did ask. I was told 'that isnt a service that is on offer'. But I'm not in pain at the moment, just extremely bloated.

How are you today, OP? Ectopics can present in very different ways. I'm hoping for you it is just a coincidence and all will be right as rain.

CliveIsAlive · 15/02/2020 17:42

Also if you have a suspected ectopic then you should be seen by the epu. I had a scan at 5 weeks (had to be transvaginal) with my 3rd pregnancy as I had one sided pain on the same side as my ectopic. The sonographer could locate that the pregnancy was in the right place. He is now a 3 year old. If you still have the pain, either push your GP or does your local epu accept self referrals? If no luck, I would contact your community midwife for advice.

FET2020 · 15/02/2020 18:11

How are you op? I had a ruptured ectopic and had shoulder tip pain, severe stabbing pain in one side of stomach and purple coloured bleeding. Get to your EPu for a scans it’s best to check as they can be dangerous.

NeverGotMyPuppy · 15/02/2020 18:58

Hi everyone
So the cramping has almost gone, I would say I'm more uncomfortable and it's not all the time. But I am really bloated still so I wonder if that's it? No bleeding or shoulder pain.
I'm sorry to hear all the women who have been through this, it's very sad Sad

I've just come out of hospital for a ruptured eptopic at 6 weeks pg. I had no shoulder pain OR bleeding. Please go and get checked out as it was actually life threatening. I really hope it's not the same for you but DM if you want more info on my experience. Good luck x

FET2020 · 15/02/2020 20:11

Still go and get checked lovely! Xx

FET2020 · 15/02/2020 20:12

Birdie2019 I’m so sorry for you, it’s a very traumatic experience xxx
