Defrosting/Reheating Food

Embarrassingly I have got to age 34 without knowing how to safely defrost and reheat food Blush.

I live alone so often batch cook meals to keep in the freezer. I usually get them out the night before I want to eat them to defrost, then heat up in the microwave. This is fine, but I’m wondering about times I haven’t been organised. Can I defrost in the microwave from frozen to eat there and then?

Usually things like chilli, bolognese, chicken in tomato sauce.

Thanks!

I take stuff out in the morning and leave it to defrost on the worktop. Once defrosted it gets heated or put in the fridge until needed. You can use the defrost function too if you forget to take it out

Yes of course you can. Smile
Use the defrost setting on your m'wave once its been in for a bit ( time will depend on size of meal obvs) give it a stir / break it up and pop it back in .
Once it's defrosted ( it will be slightly warm too ) heat it up as normal.
Don't be tempted to 'save it for another time ' once its defrosted as frozen > defrosted > partly heated > cooled > reheated is likely to have some unpleasant side affects >Envynot
