I was en route to the supermarket yesterday. Very badly flooded at one point and the road with impassable. I saw a car stuck in the water. Lots of other motorists just turning round and making their way away.
There's a fire station 2 mins walk from there so i went to see if there was anyone around that could help. No-one there.
I called 101 to report it and said they could really do with shutting the road as it is on a blind bend where the flooding is.
Turned car round and saw some fencing - metal wire stuff with tarpaulin - had come loose front it's footing and was blowing into the road - making my side impassible and dangerous to get around.
I couldn't move it on my own but waved down a passing van and the gent and I got the fencing into the yard it had been at and weighed it down.
Mentioned all of this to husband when he got home from work and he said "Why bother.. that's when people take advantage"
It's puzzled me a little. Firstly, I don't see how people can take advantage when I decided to assist, and secondly, in what way would they?
