Is the wind keeping anyone else awake?

Can’t sleep! Seven week old DS is sleeping in his basket so I SHOULD be getting some much needed rest but the wind has blown up again after dying down and it’s so loud
Just has what sounded like another load of torrential rain so undoubtedly the conservatory roof is leaking again like it was this afternoon...

I thought we were done with it down south after today as the weather warning expired at midnight but perhaps not!

Me too, it's crap. Going to have to get up for work soon. Not many students are going to be in my lecture today I imagine!

Toomanycats99 · 10/02/2020 05:50

My bedroom is in a loft conversion so I have slept on the sofa last 2 nights as I hate the wind! Still woke up at 1am when I had thought it was meant to have calmed down.

puppylambkins · 10/02/2020 05:56

Lying here drinking tea listening to rain/sleet and DDog snoring. Given up on getting back to sleep

It kept my son awake, he woke up at about 2:30, he finally went back to sleep about half an hour ago. His teacher will enjoy his company today!

Nottobesniffedat · 10/02/2020 06:50

Lying here listening to the aerial twanging in the wind, worried about recycling boxes left outside as council refuse to empty them if the lids are missing. Talk about 1st world problems.

HeronLanyon · 10/02/2020 06:54

South east here. Gusts of wind seem stronger this am than yesterday but overall seems quieter between them ! Hearing ‘stuff’ clattering down the street (lovely Grace Jones line).

Toomanycats99 · 10/02/2020 07:19

I'm thinking our binmen will be done in record time today. It's mixed plastic tin glass recycling 'box' week this week so if anyone had them out they have probably blown away and if they haven't then they (me included) need to put them out when I hear the binmen!

How many cats is too many?

I have 4 HmmHmm

Standrewsschool · 10/02/2020 08:51

I’m guessing the cats weren’t too keen on the wind.

QuestionableMouse · 10/02/2020 08:59

Same here. I'm shattered, have a headache and I'm currently debating if I should go to uni. The wind is constantly gusting and I really hate driving in it.

LatteLover12 · 10/02/2020 18:41

Did everyone survive their days? How was your meeting @marblesgoing?

I'm already on the sofa. I wish I could tell people about the pregnancy but it's too soon. I know my TA would have taken good care of me today!

Hoping for a better night tonight. It's still pretty windy here though.

Standrewsschool · 10/02/2020 18:44

Took the day off sick. Dozed this morning and watched a film this afternoon. Haven’t felt as tired as I expected too.

LatteLover12 · 10/02/2020 19:05

Definitely the right decision @Standrewsschool!

QuestionableMouse · 10/02/2020 19:10

I went to uni. Was a bit dicey on the way there!

marblesgoing · 10/02/2020 21:07

Finally fell asleep at about 6.30 and was up again at 7.30 Confused

Meeting went better than I thought and an feeling a bit happier today.
Still windy and raining on and off and the temperatures really dropped now so it's bitterly col tonight 😳

Dennisreynoldsduster · 11/02/2020 03:10

Glad the meeting went well! It’s really windy here again, it quietened down for a while but seems to have really picked up again!

Wind hasn’t died down since Saturday. Im off to the beach later on. Tremendous storm damage so im off to see. Snow on the mountains so wont go up them due to that, and the wind if course.

I sleep with ear plugs do that helps, but obviously with a baby its not possible!

It was a pain wasnt it??

It was waking me and DS, until it died down about 1am.

We have just moved and have massive gaps in between our windows so the draft and noise was extra.

I think the weekend is looking bad again. Storm Dennis. Wonder who gets to name the storms?

ForkHandlesplease · 11/02/2020 21:09

At the risk of sounding like a nut I love listening to the wind I actually listen to utube storm sounds to get to sleep. I love this weather 🙃

Dennisreynoldsduster · 13/02/2020 04:11

I can see how the wind can make you feel cosy I just wish it wasn’t quite so loud AGAIN. And it’s supposed to get worse this weekend.
Our bloody conservatory roof is leaking again due to the rain and we are supposed to be having scaffolding put up tomorrow...
Hoping they cry off as I don’t much fancy having to listen to the wind rattling around it at the weekend

Frownette · 13/02/2020 06:49

Can't hear the wind, but can hear the rain. The letterbox goes when it's bad, we got off lightly here.

Dennis the menace on Saturday!!

Frownette · 13/02/2020 06:49

I didn't realise different storms could be so close together
