Contraceptive implant and constant bleeding, what pill?

I had the implant put in in December. Period came 28th Dec and lasted 10 days. 13 days later I had another 10 day period and I've bled on and off ever since. It looks like I've started my 3rd period today. I'm sick of the bloody bleeding!

I got the implant because cerazette was awful for me. Horrendous mood swings and cycle all of the place with 10 day periods.

I can't have combined contraceptives which rules out a lot of what I would want.

I won't have the injection as weight gain is oretty3much guaranteed. And I hate the idea of a coil.

So I'm out of options unless I try a different POP, which I'm willing to but I am concerned as cerazette made me nuts.

I've also read the GP can give you pills on the implant to try and sort the bleeding, does anyone know what these are? Or does anyone have any advice on this?

DP is getting the snip but it's likely to be at least August before he gets the all clear.

I think you need to give it more time, as crap as that sounds. You only had it put in in December. I was told 3-6 months for a new contraception to settle (I have cerazette, it's brilliant but I did have about 5 months of on off bleeding first)

The doctor gave me norethistorine to stop my periods when I had constant bleeding on the implant. However that's only temporary to cover an event like a holiday or wedding. And when you stop the bleeding is worse.

I waited a year for the bleeding to stop because the GP told me it would "settle down" and it never did. I ended up going for the coil which worked. Although the coil caused me awful acne and then came out of place and perforated my cervix.

I went back on the implant after that and had no bleeding whatsoever.

Sorry that's no help. But it's a bitch what we have to do to ourselves to prevent pregnancy. I can't take the pill either. I feel your pain.

Thanks.

See I've read the GP can put you on the pill as well to try and sort the bleeding. I'll refuse cerazette though, it definitely doesn't agree with me. I have an appointment this week so I'll discuss it then.

At least it's a great contraceptive, purely because you can barely have sex!

Progesterone only contraception often causes irregular bleeding it will settle but takes an average of 6 mths.

See I've read that whatever happens in the beginning is likely to set the pattern for the whole time (implant). When I was on the pill my cycles were over 40 days and 4 days of very light bleeding but over the year the cycles became more erratic and periods went from 4 days to 10.
