Moving to Dorset

I currently live in a large city in the Midlands. I really want to move with my two children to somewhere safer, more scenic and within about a half hours drive to the coast.

I am a single parent and will be looking for a decent state secondary school and sixth form college.

Small budget of around 300k, maybe slightly more, looking for a 3 bed house with a driveway and a garden.

I am really keen to hear what people think of Dorset, especially anyone who has made the move. We don’t want to be too rural.

Is this doable?

Employment is not an issue.

Thank you.

We live in Dorset. I would look around Dorchester or Bridport. Poole/Bournemouth/Christchurch is more built up, but more expensive. Dorchester has a good secondary school (Thomas Hardye). It’s a lovely area to live, much more quiet and green than lots of places. I don’t know how well your budget would stretch though. I would look on Rightmove.
