Samsung phone. 'Call forwarded'. Is this automatic or is he pressing that button?

My son went on a trip abroad this morning with school. 8 hours have gone by now without a text.

He said he would let me know when he arrived.

I know he's arrived by flight tracker.

But I'd sleep alot better if I just got a text back (I've only text twice, one whilst he was in departures and one about an hour ago to check he arrived safely, I'm not being a dick)

I decided to call but just got the call forwarded message.

Is that automatic or is he forwarding it himself.

Please don't call me a helicopter mum etc... Its his first time on a plane. First time out of the country. I'd just like to have confirmation he arrived OK.

If he's gone to the US, he's quite possibly in a hellish immigration queue in which he's not allowed his phone...

but I did ask for him to text me when he gets a moment.

Next time you tell him, not ask: ”text me to let me know you’ve arrived safely” and go from there when he gets back if he didn’t follow that instruction. If he can’t be trusted to text or phone you with an update as courteously agreed beforehand, then he clearly doesn’t know how to operate his phone and can’t be trusted with it. And if he can’t be trusted with it then it means he won’t be able to go on any more school trips abroad..

I'd be worried aswell OP.
I might go as far as jumping on the next plane to check on him. I'm joking 🙃

Stalk his SM accounts. Not that I ever did that when my DS went abroad for the first time.

He doesn't have any social media accounts!

He's an odd little bean in that way.

I think if I've not heard anything by tomorrow lunch I'll ask the school to text the teacher with them to remind him to turn his roaming data on. I'm 99% sure that's the issue.

He wouldn't know to do that and I didn't even think about it either.

Do you have any of his mates numbers? That are on the trip? Could you txt them and ask him to contact you?
