Holiday with 13m old

I am using the indoor time during the storm productively to look at booking our first family holiday later this year Grin

We want to go end of Sept/start of Oct to PIL apartment in Spain and DC will be 13m old. Any advice on what essentials will be needed? How do flights work?
We will also be hiring a car, should we take our own car seat? I'm anxious at the best of times so worry about the quality of hired ones Confused

Thanks

Take your own car seat. Child sits on your knee on the plane.

Just a warning, holidays with small kids tend to be pretty exhausting. Don't expect to have lots of rest!

Does apartment have a cot and highchair? Is there a scary balcony?

Thanks Kindergarten - will take one car seat for sure.

Don't worry, I wasn't expecting a relaxting time, Just a bit of sun and change of scenery really. We will also have help from in-laws for a while which should give us a little bit of a break and a couple of meals out as a couple!

Apartment does have a high chair, travel cot and baby gates etc so that's ok.

Thank you for your help
