Vegetarian family friendly ideas!

Okay, probably the topic has been done to death, but DS1 (aged 10 and quite fussy) has decided he wants to be vegetarian. (Actually, he also wants to limit dairy so we might be more on the vegan end of thinsg)

I am making sausage stew today with Linda McCarntey sausages.

His tastes are very plain and unadventurpous so anything spicey is out.

I'd love some new ideas! I am in a bit of a rut anyway and I always find these threads throw up some brilliant new ideas.

Some great recipes here, the squash roast is ideal as a vegetarian roast dinner

My veggie kids only eat plain food.
Here’s what they mostly eat:
Lasagne with lentil/cauliflower replacing mince
Spag Bol with above
Pasta with broccoli and peas
Meat free nuggets
Pitta pizzas
Noodles
Spinach ravioli
Pesto pasta
Veg shepherds pie
A blended tomato pasta sauce with cashew cream mixed in
Lasagne Using lentils/cauliflower and a dairy free white sauce
Various pastry things using jus rol
Jacket potato’s and beans
Salads with mock bacon and soy chicken
Today we’re having vegan toad in the hole with Linda sausages and lots of veg
Gnocchi
Roasted veg with rice
Roasted jackfruit (season like roast pork) and stuffing, roasties
Vegan mac n cheese with applewood cheese from Asda
Crispy cauliflower bites
Meatballs
Sometimes I sneak in a butter cauliflower curry with naan bread

Snacks:
Vegan sausage rolls
Pancakes using an egg replacer
Roasted chickpeas
Roasted peas
Nuts
Sweetcorn fritters
Smoothies

Hope that gives you some ideas!

DD is really enjoying recipes from the MOB veggie book.

BahMooQuack · 09/02/2020 12:39

Baked beans, potato waffles and eggs for lunch on the menu.

I can really get into this vegetarian thing! DH is keen as well.

This week we're having -
Quorn chilli with smoked paprika wedges, tortillas, guacamole and salsa.
Quorn roast, stuffing, batter puds, roast pots and parsnips, veg and gravy.
Omelette, chips and peas.
Pesto pasta, salad and garlic bread.
Baked potatoes with beans and cheese.
Walls meat free sausages with mash, veg and gravy.
We're all veggie and do tend to eat a lot of meat substitutes and there are so many to choose from now it really is easy to go veggie. All Linda macartney things are vegan I think. Not sure I'm ready to give up cheese yet though!

All Linda macartney things are vegan I think.

Not all of them-the mozzarella burgers contain mozzarella!

Selfsettling3 · 09/02/2020 13:06

Following. My DH is veggie and DD1 is dairy free and DD2 and I are dairy and soya free. I’m so fed up of the same meals again and again.

chocolateisavegetable · 09/02/2020 13:12

Quorn mince to make lasagne, spaghetti bolognaise etc. We're not vegetarian, but use Quorn mince instead of meat mince all the time.

MrsEvedder · 09/02/2020 13:14

@PurpleDaisies of course! One of our favourites too.

BahMooQuack · 09/02/2020 13:20

I am a big fan of meal planning so am jotting everything down and am really looking forward to this!
