We picked up on a song my 11yr old niece was listening to which is from this musical, let's just say after googling the lyrics she wasn't allowed to watch it again

It’s your call but there is a sex scene in it (Dead Girl Walking) and lots of racy lyrics. There are quite a few Bootleg clips on YouTube if you want to check it out. In all honesty they will pick up on much more at school most likely but it’s certainly not Les Mis or The Greatest Showman lol.

There's a Heathers the musical?! Past blast, used to love that film!
If it's anything like the film, it definitely won't be suitable - the film is an 18

The audience was full of young teens when I watched it.
It is really fun and didn’t feel inappropriate.

This is a quick clip which will give you a basic idea

Heathers the film is one of my favourite films of all time. Love it!

Not sure I'd watch a musical of it. Might ruin it for me!

Good point, I mean what do they do, randomly burst into song after each murder?! Grin
Used to watch it so many times, knew it by heart at one point but a big part of the reason was my massive teen crush on Christian Slater, probably wouldn't have watched it so much if he wasn't in it to drool over lol

It’s not the best, I find it a bit trashy. Seventeen & Freeze Your Brain are ok. My son and his friends loved it. They belt out Candy Store - lyrics “Are we gonna have a problem?
You got a bone to pick?
You've come so far
Why now are you pulling on my dick?”.

It appeals to teens age 14 plus.

There is as others have said a sex scene on stage and the UK version got rid of the awful blue which sort of made fun of attempted sexual assault and replaced it with You’re Welcome which treats it more serious.

Thanks everyone. Its a no from me!

It's hardhitting but entirely suitable for young teens if you can have an open conversation with them about the themes. It's no worse than most soaps, and the difference is that it's actually got something important to say about teen disaffection. The original version was a bit problematic in terms of the agency of Veronica, but the composer and author added some new songs (to the version which played in London) which are more in tune with the current mood on sexual violence. It is dark, but also manages to be very uplifting. We loved it. (DD would not let me sing along to all the 80s songs in the interval but like many of the other 40 something mothers in the audience, we were going to do the German version of 99 Red Balloons and nobody was stopping us.)

Duh, my comment was supposed to be in reply to @MiniMum97, not OP!

We've opted for Dear Evan Hanson instead.
