Anyone use perfect prep machine for thickened/anti-reflux formula?

We are using aptamil anti reflux formula which is thicker - I’ve read that people put the hot shot in then the normal shot of water THEN add the formula with the thickened variety.

Surely that means the formula isn’t sterilised because it doesn’t go into the hot shot on its own?

Or is that how you make it?

Also does anyone find the thickened formula can go a big claggy and undissolved bits block the teat sometimes?

My little one is on gaviscon which makes his milk thicker, we were using the prep machine at first but it was leaving big clumps in the milk. We've been doing the old fashioned way now for about 2 weeks and it's made such a difference, even helping him bring up wind a lot better

I did the hot shot, then the rest of the water, then added the powder. If I remember correctly (it was a couple of years ago) the formula was supposed to be added to cooled, boiled water, then left for a couple of minutes to thicken, so this was the only way that made sense with the perfect prep

Also I did a swirly movement to get all the powder covered by the water before shaking like crazy to make sure there was no lumps, very rarely had one
