Last week I had an interview for a new job I'd love. I'm also happy in my current job. The new company have asked me to a second round interview, however they want a reference from my current employer. I'm uncomfortable with this and asked that they wait until they know if theyd like to offer me the role, but they want it before, whilst they are still deciding between me and some others.
My concern is it may upset my current employer, when they haven't offered the role. For all I know they may be getting references for six candidates, five of whom wont be offered! What is best approach? Anyone experienced this? Thanks in advance
