I want help re organising second hand uniform shop.
Helpers do not want to handle cash.
No WIFI for contactless cards
Anyone got a good process for chasing up bank transfers/paypal transfers that do not get actioned by the parents
All ideas gratefully received?

Cash is far and away the least faff of all the options! Our second hand uniform shop only accepts logo items, which in our school is polo shirt, jumper and PE kit. The plain stuff you can buy in the supermarket doesn't sell so we stopped taking it.

Gosh, no point if £1/item!! You'll get no profit at all for your time.

I disagree. We make around £500 a time at our termly sales. And because it’s so cheap, people buy loads of items rather that just the one they come for, so we don’t left with mountains of the stuff.

Ours is cash only. Prices range from £2 for some shirts, up to £10 for a good condition blazer. We get good attendance and stuff sells quickly.

Our sale can be finished within 10-15 mins of opening the doors, there's a real appetite for the sale in our area. The clothing is tagged with the child's name (who is selling), and profit on each item is 80% to seller while school gets 20%. We still make enough for it to be worth while, but we only do it once or twice a year.

The parents at our school set up a second hand Uniform 'sell, swap or give away' Facebook page. Any parent can join/advertise and then make pick up/payment arrangements between them.

Although to date I think almost all of it has been give always.

Very impressed by ppl making 1000 to 1500 by selling only 1 pound value items. We simply don't have 1% of that local interest.
