Metronidazole

Hi. What is the normal dosage of metronidazole for pelvic inflammation? I just realised my packet says 14 tablets, take two a day for 7 days. But they’ve given me 28 so enough for 2 weeks? They’re 400mg. I remember doctor saying take for 2 weeks but I’m on doxycycline too so don’t know if she meant that.

Anyone familiar with this and know how long you’re generally meant to take it? Can’t phone doctor as it was an out of hours thing

I can’t answer the dosage questions but please don’t drink with them and even avoid alcohol mouth wash. As it will make very very poorly.

You can phone the doctor. They will be able to check a correct dosage, even if it was prescribed by somebody else.

@bogoffrain oh I read they’re awful for it! I’ve taken since Tuesday and they’ve made me throw up twice (either these or doxycycline), they don’t seem very nice 😅

They have given you 28 tablets in total. Does each box say 2 a day for a week. You can ring the pharmacist who can contact the doctor to check. The patient info leaflet will say what dose is usual for each illness.
